I visited the Secor Road yesterday. My friend and I were the only customers, and there were three employees visible. The place was FILTHY! The area where customers had to pay ( with their tray of food) was full of dust balls and dirt. (It was the back side of a computer). The floors were littered with wrappers, condiment packets, food, and just plain dirt - they appeared not to have been swept in a long time. The area by the garbage can was even worse - food/drink spills, etc. This was while the bagels were out in the open in baskets. I’ve always loved Barry’s, but I won’t be returning to this location. Update…..per your request, I visited the Secor Road location on 11/8/2021 at 4:15 pm and stayed about an hour. I asked the young man who checked me out if he was the manager and he said he was not. I pointed out the dirty area (shown on the picture) and he said it would be taken care of. During the hour I was there, I didn’t see any cleaning being done. Thank you for responding.

Barry Bagles is located super close to multiple motels such as the Residence Inn that I stayed at while visiting Toledo. We walked there it was so close. Barry's is nice and clean both inside and out. There is both indoor and outdoor dining in place. I ordered an eggle with meat and cheese on a "everything bagle". The bagle was nice fresh, and soft. There are many options for the bagle, meat, cheese and fresh veggies. Think of it like a subway, but with bagles. The house coffee was also of good quality. The gentleman who waited on me was very nice, and helpful (7/10/21 7am). Pros: Great food! Clean establishment, friendly employee. Cons: None I highly recommend this place. It is interesting in that you basically build your own bagle.

Whenever we visit Toledo, we go to Barry’s Bagels. They are fresh and delicious. We don’t have anything like Barry’s Bagels where we live in Racine, WI. We LOVE Barry’s Bagels! Highly recommended!!!

I always seem to have a time problem with Barry bagels ordering online as well as with the actual pick up of the food.

I've placed orders with both Holland Sylvania and this location before they moved and now since they've moved. It's always the same experience.

Picking up the order is a nightmare most times. Nobody greets you. In the new location there isn't a sign anywhere telling you what to do. It's location of the register is behind a corner with a lot of traffic and during covid nobody can stay 6 feet apart by the register. But the worst to me is the business model where you have 1 Barry employee working with 1 customer and that's all they focus on. The problem I have then is I go to the register and either have to interrupt someone to ask if this is where I pick up my online order or try and catch 1 of the 12 employees not busy to ask if they can find it. Sometimes I stand there for minutes waiting for someone to notice me and to see what I'm doing standing there.

On top of that it always seems like they start building the bagels when I come in and say I have an online order. The process seems very slow and not efficient at all. In my opinion there are few changes they could make that would enhance everybody's experience.

It's still 3 stars because the bagels are decent and there is no real competitor around the Toledo area. Panera? McDonald's? None of them have good made-to-order breakfast sandwiches.

All in all the food and sandwiches are worth it. If the other things don't bother you, give it a go.

(PS the entrance: sat waiting for my sandwiches the other day and minimum 50% of people went the wrong way becuase it's not clear if you should go left or right when you walk in.)

Reply: I totally get the issue with the move and in the times of covid it's gotta be a struggle. I appreciate what you guys do and continue to come back I just think minor changes would make worlds of difference with efficiency. The register area was the least of...

Barry's is outstanding. Simply outstanding food and service. Decades old, this local restaurant chain has a tradition of quality that makes it reliable. The bagels are at the core of the business, and the freshly made bagels are world class, with a selection of varieties that should suit any taste. It's hard to beat the choices for bagels alone. With the sandwiches, the fresh meats and vegetables make Barry's the best choice for a tasty meal. Portions are ample at Barry's, and the servers do not skimp on the makings of any of the sandwiches. Plus, the sides are remarkable. The deli choices offer a lot of items to complement any meal. My personal favorite is the cole slaw, which has a light cream dressing that sits nicely on the cabbage. It makes a tasty complement to a smoked turkey and Swiss cheese whole-wheat bagel sandwich for a very satisfying lunch. Yet there are other choices, and the baked potatoes are an excellent choice. And then there are the homemade soups. The options to eat-in or take-out offers are helpful. Sometimes it's easiest to have a meal in the nicely lit space and enjoy the meals right there. Other times, take-out is in order, so that you can bring a Barry's meal wherever you like and enjoy it at your convenience. It's one of Toledo's native restaurant chain, with the location at Central and Secor having a long tradition of excellent food and...

Unfortunately due to my pre existing condition I am no longer allowed to be served at this restaurant. Used to be one of my favorites but unfortunately they choose not to accept customers from all walks of life.

Update: As I see Barry’s has decided to not only respond to my comment, but respond with a lie, i feel the need to inform the public who reads this. The state of Ohio and Lucas county have in writing for the ordinance that individuals under the age of 6 or with preexisting conditions (both mental and physical) may be exempt from said ordinance if need be. I understand that the polarization of today’s issues force companies to take a hardline, one sided stance on issues like this, but I would encourage your future business decisions to be made through the lens of inclusivity rather than exclusivity.

2nd update: Barry’s has also told other customers who complained about lack of masks being worn that it is recommended not required. That was only a couple months ago....
