HotDog & Smoothie Shack — Restaurant in Topeka

I went in with an appetite for hotdogs. Upon arriving at lunch time there were patrons already waiting in the lobby. It appeared they had gotten their food, but were waiting on their smoothies. My order was taken right away and the two hotdogs I ordered came out to around 16 dollars. Not terrible, since they use Nathan's Frank's, which are a personal favorite. Unfortunately only one person was working in the building and could not prepare my order due to the customers that arrived after me and taking their orders (which is understandable). After he took their orders, another employee arrived with two small bags of ice from a convenient store or nearby establishment that sold bags of ice. Apparently they ran out of ice an hour after they opened. They prepared two good sized smoothies for the customers that were waiting before I arrived, but seemed to have trouble telling the two drinks apart after they set them on the counter. I would recommend that they mark their drinks before giving them to the customer. After waiting for my food, I was given two Styrofoam containers that had my hotdogs. I was a bit concerned because the "kitchen" didn't look any more capable of making hotdogs more than my own kitchen at my house. I ordered the New York dog and the Big Dog. The New York dog was a good jumping off point. It had mustard, cooked onions and a Nathan's frank. The bun was good and the Dog was overall tasty. The second hot dog I sampled contained onions, saurkraut, jalapeños, bacon and baked beans. The flavor was good. I enjoyed it, even tho it had an overpowering smokey flavor to it. I would just hesitate to get the beans if you don't like this type of flavor. Overall the food was good, but I would caution on going at busy times if you want to get in and out. I really enjoyed this new place of heaven. Very quick on the orders, food is fresh and mouth watering. A good fill and I can watch the Chiefs capture a victory while dining in. Not only is the location convenient, but they delivered to me on my next order. I can’t get enough. N fact I’m eating a famous chili dog as I give this review, I almost don’t wanna finish this bcus it’s such a great Hotdog. But they deserve their review. I have stopped by the Hot Dog and Smoothie Shack at least once a week since they opened. The location is great and easy to access which is what caught my attention at first. The staff is wonderful, absolutely helpful and friendly. Besides the yummy hotdogs, smoothies and carrot cake I keep coming back because it’s one of the cleanest places in town, where staff where gloves throughout all steps of cooking, ingredients are fresh. I’m grateful this little gem has chosen Topeka as its home and even more grateful it’s on my daily drive so I can treat...
