Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Totowa

I've been coming to this applebee's for sometime now, and this is the first time the experience was bad.

My party and I (two adults, one baby) were seated immediately, which is good. The place was busy, which is understandable for a weekend, and I assuming staff was of short supply. As I said, we were seated immediately and our waitress/bartender was there in a heartbeat to ask us what we would like to order. That's when the promptness came to a screeching halt.

We order two beers, a kids meal and an appetizer while myself and the other adult made up our minds on an entrée. The two drinks took about a half hour to arrive. The drinks were placed in front of us and the server was gone from that point.

Another ten or so minutes had passed (forty in total at this point) and our appetizer (mozzarella sticks of all things) had arrived. So did the kids meal, which was not the kids meal we had ordered which we immediately attempted to remediate (foreshadowing).

Some ten or so minutes later, out server returns to finally ask us what we would like to eat. We place our order. Food was about another thirty minutes to serve.

At this point, the other adult and the child have had enough and needed to get out. I go to pay the bill just to see that we had been charged two kids meals plus an additional kids drink (kids meals come with a drink included, the child in question didn't even finish the one that was included). I had asked to have the bill corrected. I was never notified of the correction. Instead, I had to wait for the bill to prompt a correction on the tbaleside kiosk, to which I wish I could say Iwas surprised, the drink still was not corrected. Not wanting to wait til Easter for this to be corrected, I paid the bill. I'd like to think that this was a mistake, but more likely some sort of scam to run up the bill to inflate tip percentages.

This is unfortunate for a multitude of reasons. Biggest reason is my party and I really enjoyed patronizing this applebee's location. After today, I don't see that as being something we can do in the future. The entire atmosphere was way off and the service (or lack thereof) reflected that. Applebee’s is one of my favorite restaurants at this particular restaurant I was being judged and excused by Juan (an employee) of being too intoxicated because it was my best friend birthday and she had a lot to drink before I came to pick her up I drove 30 mins to pick up my bestie and I didn’t have anything to drink I waited until I arrived at the restaurant because I was the designated driver on March 16th after 1am Juan excuses me for being intoxicated judging me based on my best friend because she was intoxicated so he didn’t want to serve me or my associate because Juan decides to judge base by on looking at one and single out the other because my best friend was and I said that’s discrimination and deformation of character and you can’t assume me being intoxicated because my best friend was celebrating her birthday he said he can assume I was intoxicated because how I was talking and I said to him I have a partial in my mouth and I’m still learning how to talk with it being in my mouth. Thank you to the night shift manager he handled the situation professionally and for that I see why he is a manager/supervisor thank you for your patience help and kindness more importantly your professionalism we need more people like him ( the supervisor) but however they should have more training with their employees on not judging all people based off one’s person actions get the full details before you judge anyone won’t be returning to this...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Applebee's, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the evening.

The menu offered a fantastic variety of delicious options, and I was impressed by the quality of the food. My meal was not only flavorful but also beautifully presented. It’s clear that the kitchen takes pride in their work!

What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional management. The manager (Chris) were actively engaged with the staff and patrons, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. They were attentive, checking in on guests to make sure everyone was satisfied and happy. Their commitment to excellent customer service was evident, and it made a significant difference in the overall dining experience.

In addition, the staff was friendly and efficient, making sure our drinks were always full and our needs were promptly met. It felt like a well-coordinated team effort, and it’s refreshing to see such dedication in the hospitality industry.
