Nice waitress…. But what a mess! Don’t go here if you have any type of time restriction!
So we went on Father’s Day, checked online beforehand and there was no wait for a table. We arrive, parked outside of Van Maur and was able to be seated immediately. So thought we were off to a really great start. Loved seeing that all the employees were busy and working, there wasn’t anyone just standing around. The atmosphere was fun, loved all of the photos around the restaurant and the wine bottle lights. The silverware and plates could definitely use some better washes as there were pieces of stuff on 2 of the plates and all 3 forks. The back of my menu was sticky, the cheese shaker was almost empty and also was sticky. We switched it with the empty table next to yours and that was also sticky. Our waitress was sweet, and she warned us from the start that the pizzas were taking about 45 minutes. This was okay because we had about 2 hours before we had to be home.
We signed up for rewards and there is supposed to be a free appetizer for it. We ordered the Caesar salad. The food comes and it was good. The bread crumbs are soft, the dressing was good and the romaine was fresh. Then we ordered some bread as well. The bread was good, I loved the oil and added parm, my fiancé did the vinaigrette and said it was great too.
Then we just sat waiting for our pizzas. The table next to us had gotten 2 pizzas, but they don’t come out together. They bring them 1 at a time, which is weird. Then a 3rd pizza was delivered to their table. Turns out that wasn’t theirs, so a minute or 2 later the food runner comes back, apologizes and takes it back, hands it to a waitress who then delivers it to a table across the room. After the table next to us left we watched our server take down the table, and reset it… but she placed the clean plates on the booth seat (without cleaning that) while arranging the table cloth. Then proceeded to put the plates out. Like ma’am peoples butts were just there and I see the food on the bench.
While still waiting for our food I people watched quite a bit and saw other sanitary issues such as half cleaning a table, not removing or wiping anything down and placed the new linens/settings on the corner of the table and left them. They sat there for over 30 minutes. At this point the waitress came and offered us a free desert for the wait.
It took 2 hours before our food finally came and we had to rearrange our entire night. We had ordered a 12” Don and a 16” pesto pizza with chicken, ricotta and some veggies. The pesto pizza was dropped at the table first by someone who didn’t even say anything, usually you are asked if they can do anything else for you, and our pizza was missing the chicken. So I told the waitress when I saw her. She took it back, had lukewarm chicken added to the top of the pizza that already went to our table and brought it back to us. At this point the crust is soggy, the pesto sauce is downright watery and there were some bites that were really good and a couple others that were flavorless. The don pizza was good. Good flavor and since it didn’t have to be sent back at all it wasn’t soggy and was hot still.
Then we asked for boxes and the cannoli to go, plus ordered an extra cannoli. I paid the check right away when she brought it, but didn’t look first… my bad. Luckily after I paid my fiancé looked and said it was higher than he thought it would be. So we looked closer. They never took the free appetizer off, and they charged us for the chicken on the pesto pizza twice! I let the waitress knows and she only fixes the double charge. Then when we showed her the other part they had to void the entire transaction and re-run it all. Just a headache for us.
The cannolis we took home were really good though and loved the amount of filling in each the chocolate cannoli and the original! It wasn’t skimpy.
So while the service was working hard, and very nice I highly doubt we will return. Maybe we will...

When we first walked in the hostess had her back to the desk chit-chating with other workers. We were then seated right in the main pathway with approx 4 other people in the whole place it was a terrible seat as 2 people were practically right next to us at a slightly lower level(I could've reached out and touched them)-I asked to move, and they allowed it. Another family came basically at the same time and also asked to moved as they were first seated right in the pathway.
We then ordered 2 drinks; peach Moscow mule and my husband got a drink. The Moscow mule was awful, I asked if I could just get some more peach it in or something as i didnt feel it was made correctly at all- of course he brought me a little container of peach 😆 now I found this quite funny as most restaurants would just simply remake the drink- not here. My husband also saw the waiter and bartender talking and heard that the peach was forgotten. Again- at that point... why not just remake the drink?
I got the bruscetta trio and it was amazing, the waiter brought it and left- no Silverwere or napkins yet. Every other table was able to get napkins and water but we were not even asked. So I ate the bruscetta without these things and again... waiter didn't come back until I finished it.
When he did come back we asked about Silverwere which took a good 5 minutes from that point to be brought to our table.
Pizza came out and we ate it, he checked on us 2 times to make sure it was good and then went back to where they were making the food- probably to talk. We finished our pizza and wanted a box and the check but the waiter didn't come back- it took him 20 minutes to come back[I timed it]. He finally came out, and we asked for a box and check right away and immediately gave him the card. We didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for him to leave and come back.
So we spend $73 before using some of our points which brought it too $53 for an appetizer, 2 pizzas and 2 drinks- one of which was not great at all, but hey I wasn't going to waste the money and not drink it. Pizzas were great as usual, but the service was not. The waiter was very friendly, but that is it- the workers definitely did not care much about their tables sense they spent most of their time talking to each other at the bar[probably why my drink was bad] then actually working.
Overall: Don't eat there, take the food to go and pop it in the oven to heat it up, it'll taste the same and you won't have to deal...
Read moreWe decided to check out Grimadi's while shopping in the area. We were seated immediately but even though it was not very busy we waited a bit for our server who was apparently the bartender to come over so we were ready to order our drinks and food. We had decided to try a house specialty pizza it was called the brooklyn bridge our server put in our order and got our drinks a pepsi for me and wine for my companion she was rather suprised at the small amount of wine that was poured it was about a third of a glass maybe maybe less I will let others judge it on there own but it did look a bit short. As to our pizza it came fairly quickly and i will say as did my companion it was excellent perfectly done crispy crust and toppings excellent. While we ate our server checked on us twice to make sure everything was good and it was and that was the last time he bothered to check with us again like when we were done and we waited almost 10 minutes to get our bill much to my companions dislike. Now i dont like causing a stir so we waited and although it was still not that busy our server never even looked in our direction from the bar not 30 ft. away and because my companion really wanted to leave and continue shopping and it had been 10 minutes i finally gave in and as the maitre d walked by to seat another couple i called him over and asked him if he could get our server and maybe the bill and a box which he did and even though he had forgotten us he said nothing in a way of apology. Now before you think im being snarky about this im not actually angry about this at our server I am angry at the management as the bartender shouldnt be serving tables when hes obviously the only bartender so maybe fix this and have enough servers or less tables. By the way that is the wine as...
