Standard Rec — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

So tonight for dinner we went to a place that we had never been to. In the heart of Patchogue we went to a restaurant called standard Rec. It's a restaurant with a very nice bar and a really great vibe.

They have video games and bar games spread out throughout the entire place and it was just a really cool place to hang out.

We ordered two appetizers. The first was a giant pretzel. It came with mustard and melted cheese sauce. The pretzel was piping hot and I really liked it.

We also ordered a thing of nachos which were regular nacho chips and plantain chips mixed together. There was plenty of chicken and it was all fresh white meat.

Kenny of course had an order of wings. He said the wings were good and had a decent amount of heat. He liked the buffalo sauce so much he asked for a side for his french fries.

My daughter had a regular cheeseburger which is two patties with cheese lettuce tomato. It came with a side of fries. She enjoyed it.

My wife had the lettuce wraps under the appetizers for her main meal. They were very good. The only negative is she ask for no scallions and they sprinkled scallions on top. they're easy enough to pick off so it wasn't that big of a deal and the waitress apologized profusely.

I ordered a burger that had a fried round of mozzarella cheese in the middle of two burgers and their special sauce. It had a great flavor and was very messy to eat I really enjoyed the.

For dessert we ordered a dessert that consisted of vanilla gelato two stuffed churros and candied pumpkin seeds.

I’ve visited Standard Rec a few times now, and it’s consistently been a standout experience; especially the staff, who are super friendly, attentive, and genuinely sincere. Whether I’m visiting with friends or family, the warmth behind the bar always enhances the night.

During my most recent visit, Luca was serving us. His great smile, positive attitude, and seamless service skills made the evening extra enjoyable; he clearly knows exactly what he’s doing and makes everyone feel welcome.

There was another bartender working alongside him; unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name, but he had long hair and was wearing a Yankees cap that evening. He, too, was incredibly attentive and friendly, rounding out a stellar team.

We went during happy hour, which runs Tuesday through Friday from 2 PM to 7 PM , and were impressed; not just by the deals, but by the consistently great service. While happy hour is a fantastic time to drop in, the vibe and the staff make this a place we’d happily visit at any time of day.

Whoever the young shorter brunette hostess is needs a new job. I’m sorry if I interrupted your. Phone scrolling time. I was picking up my pick up and Parked in the rear so I came from the back, went up to the bar because it was pretty busy and asked where do I go for my pick up? I was told to see the hostess upfront. I went upfront to the hostess and asked about picking up my meal, and I was told that she would go check in the back, but it might be a couple minutes. I said that’s fine. I asked if I can wait in the back since I parked in the back she gave me an attitude and said no you pick it up up here. I stated I parked in the rear of the building due to no parking upfront so can I pick up in the back whenever it comes out? Got a nasty response with and then got told whatever and just walks away and is mumbling under her breath. Then she walks in the kitchen looks around, comes back out looks at me, goes back into the kitchen, then comes out, stares at me and says it’ll be a couple minutes in a nasty tone of Voice and then just walk up front while glaring at me. I’m sorry you guys have a big party going on and it took forever for me to cross from the front to the back and vice versa and I thought it would make it easier for the food runner to just hand it to me right out the kitchen, but now go ahead and be unprofessional and nasty giving me nasty marks.
