Well I started working for this company three months ago to try and gain serving experience. On the day of hire I was promised a full time position and to make money however that was not the case. The manager had started me off on national pancake day which is one of the busiest and most hectic days of the year but I've grown to love serving. My coworkers and customers were awesome but as for my "manager" thami he treats his workers and guests with absolute disrespect. While working there I had less than a week of training being a brand new server and on my second day off training thami had called my coworker and I useless because we we're getting slammed with customers and put an order in wrong. Thami talks to his staff in a very unprofessional way and doesn't only talk but scream at us in front of guests. One night a guest had a hair in her pancake and he argued with her and said there is no way she could have a hair in her pancake because it would burn off on the grill. Thami is not only rude but he is never actually at work, sometimes he just leaves to go home and sleep and doesn't even tell us he is leaving. I can say for almost my entire time working at IHOP Thami has not been there to supervise or manage the restaurant. I've worked in food safety before and it's not sanitary that he brings food from home and makes our cook cook it for him before cooking the guests food first. Yesterday he called and asked me to get there as early as I can so I was scheduled at 1pm and got there at 12 then he proceeded to make me wait to clock on until 1. After I clocked on I began rolling my silverware so I was doing something and not nothing and he didn't like that my coworkers and I were joking around and talking while doing it so he told me to stop rolling silverware and go stand up in the front of the restaurant and wait for the tables to come in. Throughout the night he was down my back about everything and when I had told him I could not stay past my shift he screamed at me in front of the entire restaurant telling me I don't put my customers first and told me to leave and not to return, that was the point where I finally had enough!Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am a very hard worker and put the company first! I have never been so disrespected by a manager in my entire life. IHOP should look into the type of manager they have running their Clifton...
Read moreI'd give this place 3.5/5 stars.
This was my maiden voyage patronizing any IHOP. I did so because I signed up for their email club, and the initial reward is a free Rooty Tooty breakfast (2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 2 pancakes topped with choice of strawberries, blueberries, or cinnamon apples and whipped cream). I was greeted by a female server whose name I didn't get, but she was a pleasant, middle-aged Italian woman with wavy black hair. The food took less than ten minutes to reach me, which I thought was fairly quick. Keep in mind, though, that I was by myself, and the restaurant was half full (9AM on a Wednesday). Their coffee is decent tasting and strong. Two small cups got me fairly wired on caffeine. The nice thing is that my server left the coffee thermos at my table, so I didn't have to ask her for more, and that was a smart move. It saved us both time and saved her effort. Overall, the food was made well, and I really liked the pancakes. I'd never had them topped with anything other than syrup before, so this was like eating a dessert.
The reason I deducted 1.5 stars from a perfect score is because of the prices. Yes, I had a a coupon that gave me a free breakfast minus the drink, but I wouldn't want to pay full price if I returned without a coupon. The Rooty Tooty was $7.99, and the coffee was $2.29. After tax the meal would have been $11.00 even. That is unreasonably high for breakfast at a run-of-the-mill chain restaurant. For those of you who are servers, don't worry about how I tipped the server. I left her $5, which is 45% of what the bill would have been.
In conclusion, I think this is a nice place to eat if you have coupons, but for full price I'd...
Read moreFather of two with a pregnant wife. Bring this up as I really was trying to do something nice for my family as otherwise it was rough morning. We arrived there and were seated well enough. No complaints there. The trouble starts with drinks. Juice and milk for my son and daughter. My wife and I chose hot cocoa. The hot cocoa came and had odd bubbles in it. I took a sip and it seemed fine. The wife didn't trust (I soon learned her instincts were on point.) I get towards the bottom of the glass and I finally see the issue. Clearish/blue soap is on the bottom of my glass. I felt bad so I got us both waters and didn't mention the mistake as the server was in a bad mood as is. Food comes and oh man. Wife's potatoes had cinnamon on them. I thought my wife was hallucinating so I tried myself and sure enough cinnamon. Wondered if maybe we missed the recipe description but we didn't as I grabbed a menu before leaving. All the food was cold as well. But the kids were happy enough so we pushed on. The true moment that made the visit was on exit. I went into the bathroom with my young daughter. (Too young to be left alone) And there were feces all over the toilet and water all over the floor. So I asked my wife to bring her into the girls bathroom. The wife explained that the bathroom was disgusting looking like a scene outta Carrie. So I gave up and went to local friendlies to cure bad tastes and bathroom problems. Soap made me feel general malaise and gave me NVD so ended up going to urgent care. Must've been a bad day, but it was like 915 in the am and no one was there at IHOP. Generally a bad experience. Try Jimmy Egg down the road. You...
