I should have left when I was greeted by my server while she was carrying a tiny mountain of dirty dishes and silverware that started falling all over the other side of the booth.. But, I decided to stay as it just seemed like she was a little frazzled. She came back and took my drink order and my order for a cup of soup with no scallions on top. She returned about 5 minutes later with the drink, but it was in a dirty cup. It seemed that there was something stuck to the outside of the glass. The waitress promptly took the drink and came back with a "fresh" glass. After she dropped the bread, I was informed my soup would be right up. About 15 minutes later and a few more promises, the server went to check on the soup. I was told they needed to heat up a new batch, but it would be right out. In the meantime, I ordered a medium fillet and endless shrimp (fried shrimp). The soup finally arrived, it was cold in the middle, but I was so hungry, i did not want to wait any longer. So I ate it. Shortly after, my "steak" came with garlic shrimp. I told my server that I ordered fried shrimp and asked if the cut of steak that I was served was truly a fillet (she said yes) and she apologized again and went back to the kitchen. My steak was flat and not very appealing. I cut into it and it was very well done. When the server returned, I showed her the steak and she made a few comments about how she could cook a steak better than the kitchen and that the manager would bring the replacement. By this time, it had been almost an hour for my correct entree. I decided to eat the baked potato as it would be hard to mess that up. The manager came out with the new steak and it was cooked correctly, but she did not ask any other questions, she pretty much dropped the food and left as I asked for a to go box. I received my fried shrimp and when I tasted them, the oil they were fried in must have been turning as they were just terrible. While sitting there, I noticed something black floating in my iced tea. At this point, I had enough and wanted my check so I could leave. Now, I would not be writing this review and would have chalked it up to a bad evening if I had received my receipt at the end of the meal. My card was run, and when the server came back, the itemized receipt was gone. I understand that when people don't want you to fill out a survey, they don't give the receipt back. So, I waited for another 10 minutes for someone to come back to the table. Finally another server came over and asked if I needed anything. I said "thank you!" And explained I would like an itemized receipt. The original server came out and again apologized and this time asked if I wanted a dessert to take home or anything as she could see I was frustrated. I explained that I just wanted to leave. She asked if she could get my drink to go and I told her that there was something floating at the bottom of my cup and it was very unappealing. She proceeded to pick up the cup to look at it to make sure! That was just odd.
I just can't believe that I spent so much time in a restaurant and still left hungry. Very disappointing experience in a restaurant with 5...
Read moreWe came to Malta so we decided to take the drive over to the restaurant since we don't have a local one anymore. I called the day before and made a reservation at 5pm, which we didnt think would be necessary for a Wednesday, but didn't want to take any chances. We got there around 4:30, it was busier than I expected but not that busy, still lots of seating available. The Host was a mess. He had an attitude, he came over to the booth and we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience. Never got greeted other than him saying "just give me a minute" followed by a heavy sigh and kind of holding his head blocking us from his sight with his hand on his eyebrows... After his mini tantrum he just said follow me... my husband said at that point that we have a reservation. This flustered him as well. He got more irritable with that and really my husband only mentioned it so they didn't save the table and it would be open for other people. Consideration. His body language was off putting I'm not sure why he would be a host, or worse, it's possible he's management covering for a host or something. Not someone I'd want up front either way. Well, I am pretty sure he was the same person who took my reservation because that person sounded very annoyed and flustered as well. I thought it was a woman on the phone, but when we got there the voices are the same and level of attitude was the same as well. Needless to say he couldn't find the reservation so I'm guessing this guy is his own worst enemy. We got to our table and my husband sat on one side while the host was blocking my 5 yr old and I from getting into the other side. Then he was even more flustered and bothered by us.. but I couldn't go around him to get in the booth because we were by the wall... so he was literally blocking us. Then touched a couple things on the table seemingly with no purpose other than to look busy, used his hand and kinda swatted at the table as id to say "good enough" and then moved out of the way, like we were again bothering him. At this point we expected the worst. Our waiter was great. The food wasn't very good. We shared a blooming onion, cooked fine I just didnt like the flavor. My husband ordered chicken tenders with fries and a side salad. He said the tenders were awful. I ordered aussie fries, they werent the best. The fries themselves taste very good but I expected a larger portion and better toppings, because it said it's a large portion but it didn't really matter because I didnt eat them all anyway, they were lack luster. But maybe the mood was set and the food didn't taste good because we had a bad taste in our mouths before we even got seated thanks...
Read moreMy wife & I paid a visit to Outback on 3/29. We've been there numerous times before without any problems, other than a messed up order or 2. no harm, no foul there - it's to be expected on occasion. We arrived at around 7pm, and were told there would be a 20 minute wait for a table. So we sat at the bar, and ordered a couple of cocktails, and noticed that 3 small tables in the bar were empty. We asked the bartender, Sierra, if we could sit in one of them. The other male bartender came right over and rudely stated, 'I closed that section about an hour ago'. About 5 minutes later, here comes the Hostess, seating people in the open tables. We nicely asked if we could get one of the other tables. Mr. Rude said no, and muttered a few things under his breath, and we saw Sierra head out to talk to the hostess. Meanwhile, we were still waiting for our drinks (15 minute), and saw drinks being delivered to the table they told us we couldn't have. Now, after waiting almost 20 minutes for our drinks, Mr. Rude finally brought them over. We tasted them, and found they were nothing more than some cheap premix, and devoid of any alcohol. We took a few sips, and Mr. Rude came over and asked if we were ready for our table. I calmly asked, "you don't think we should get an apology for all of this?: He stood there, with a (F U) grin on his face, and began to basically mock us. I stated we weren't looking for anything free for the inconvenience, just that an apology was in order here. He just kept smirking, nodding his head and mocking me -- to the point that I almost lost my temper, and wanted to wipe the stupid smile off his face. In my life, I've never been treated like this in ANY establishment. i finally lost it and told him to go F himself as we left --without ever eating. I hate that this happened, as my wife & I have enjoyed going to Outback for years. Rather than go on social media to complain, I wrote an email to their customer service address -- and never received a response. Needless to say, we have no intention on ever spending another nickel of our hard earned $$ at Outback ever again. Hello Texas...
