My husband and I were looking to freshen up a few rooms in our home so we went shopping for new carpeting. The first company that came to our minds was Carpet One Floor and Home, because we have purchased through them on 2 other occasions over the past 24 years. We had great experiences both times. This time we dealt with Sales Consultant Laura Madelone in Clifton Park. Even though the hours we were available and her hours didn’t align, she was extremely attentive to our order and very accommodating to our needs, making several phone calls to confirm we were happy, inquire whether we needed any additional information, and to simply thank us when we placed our order. We visited the store on a couple of occasions in the evening prior to finalizing our order. Both times we were greeted by the nicest Sales Consultant Frank Anetzberger. Even though this wasn’t his sale, Frank was absolutely fabulous to work with. He took us through the showroom and gave us honest and genuine advice about our choices. He did not try to oversell us on the products. He spoke truthfully, as if advising a family member on which options were our best bargain and could realistically meet our installation schedule. We went in on my birthday to place and pay for our order, and Frank took extra time with us. He made a big deal about my birthday. He learned that we are considering putting an addition on our home, and he took the time to advise us on luxury vinyl plank flooring options that were absolutely gorgeous and affordable. We purchased a small area rug to take with us that day. Frank cut us a good deal on the area rug. I am so impressed with this company.
A week prior to our original installation date, we had some issues with other work being done on our home which required us to push the carpet installation out a couple of weeks. When we called, our request to reschedule was honored and we were able to schedule the exact date we wanted the installation to take place with just one easy phone call.
We originally purchased padding to go down, but when my husband pulled up our old carpet the evening before our installation, we discovered that the old padding was still in very decent shape. We called the Carpet One Scheduler Pam to discuss this and verify the installation time. Pam spoke to my husband very professionally listened to his concern about purchasing padding that he really doesn’t need. She was amazing and helpful, promising to have someone call him back to discuss it. Within minutes we received a phone call back from another person with excellent customer service skills. Store Manager Todd Sauter spoke to my husband and without any hesitation, he agreed to remove the padding from our order, instantly saving us $500 in unnecessary costs.
On the day of installation, two gentlemen arrived on time with all of the materials and tools needed to do the job, and they went right to work. My husband tried to help them carry the carpeting up the stairs, but they wouldn’t hear of it. They graciously and politely let him know that he didn’t have to lift a finger. They were such a fast and professional team. However the best part about the installation is the results. This installation is nothing short of PERFECTION! We absolutely love the job, the seeming with existing carpet that wasn’t being replaced was flawless, the carpet itself is so gorgeous. This was not a high end carpet, but it looks pretty high end on my floors. These installation guys insisted on vacuuming the new carpet after it went down. My husband tried to tell them not to worry about it, but they said this is part of the job.
We are a 3 time loyal customer now. We wouldn’t consider purchasing carpet from another company. We will always consider Carpet One Floor and Home first for all of our flooring and other home improvement options they offer. We will refer all friends and family in their direction. Thank you so much for such an excellent experience.
Sincerely, Jacqui and...
Read moreWhat I liked: I found the particular place of business to be really well kept and professional. Each time I returned to survey or borrow materials everyone was super helpful and knowledgeable. I really shopped around and decided that carpet just costs what it costs everyone just has their own way to package it. In the end I thought their prices were overall comprable to the other 4 places I shopped. They did have some really great deals going on at the time and I benefited from their advice. I felt they took their time to really listen to what it was I was trying to achieve in my home as we were replacing a ton of flooring/carpeting. I liked being able to take samples home to match things up properly.
What I didn't like: We replaced some carpteted areas with wood hence we had trim we hadn't had before. The trim came primed and not painted. This is apparently an industry standard and should be a known thing but I never dreamed I would spend thousands of dollars and not get painted trim then have to go find a painter after the fact to make it a finished product. I would have greatly appreciated being told that ahead of time and then I would have gotten it painted prior to the installation. It was left w. the spaces not filled in, cracks showing and holes from where it was nailed in, when I called about that they were willing to send the guy back out and he did in fact fix it but this was really just somthing that was a bummer in the process.
When they were doing my hallways floors they ended up having to sand the floors for the best fit which is totally cool but my house was covered from top to bottom with dust - I get that it's a construction zone etc however simply shutting bedroom doors or using a machine to help keep down the dust as I have heard others do or putting up plastic to help would have been appreciated. If I had known it was going to happen, I would have hung it up myself - it took me hours upon hours to get my house cleaned up. When I called about that I was told that there's nothing to be done about it which I still disagree with to a certain level.
I think the company is overall great and would recommend them however be aware of the things I wasn't to ensure a more positive outcome. I did call to have them return to fix the trim and then there were a couple of things that weren't nailed down correctly in one area and 2 sharp nails sticking out on my staircase. They returned to fix immediately and upheld things that were mistakes that could...
Read moreThe sales department was great. Paid for my floor in July (flooring and installation). Scheduled installation for August. Carpet One canceled the night before saying the job previous needed an extra day. I was fine with this, as I would expect my floor to be completed as well. Lost a full day of pay. Installation rescheduled for September (earliest date available). Installers show up and realize my floor needs more prep work than expected. It’ll cost $1500 (on top of a $2700 floor). $1500 extra paid that day and floor not complete. They’ll have to come back to actually put down my floor. Scheduled again for October 15 (again, earliest date available). Took the day off then sat around for no one to show up. Called the installation team twice asking where they were. Finally got a call back stating that my floor was marked as complete and no return to my home was even put in the system. At this point, my flooring was sitting in boxes in my dining room. Lost another day of pay. Rescheduled again for October 16th (scrambled to find someone to fix the mistake which I appreciate). This time, he did show up. However, lost another day of pay to stay home for him to come. In the end my floor looks great but I lost almost $1000 in pay as well as $4200 for the actual floor. If you want to buy a floor, this is a good place- but don’t dream about getting it installed!
Edit: owner responded asking me to call the branch. I did, no one knew where to send me. Tried texting the cell number in a previous response. No reply. Don’t be fooled by...
