Ferris Mini Market & Deli — Restaurant in Town of Eastchester

I’ve been coming to this deli regularly for drinks, lottery tickets, and other items, and I’ve never had a bad experience until today. I bought two bottles of Vita Coco coconut water that clearly tasted off — and since I drink these all the time, I knew something wasn’t right. I politely asked if I could swap them for something else, but the guy flat-out refused, claiming he would lose money and wouldn’t get credit from his distributor. As someone who has worked in retail food establishments, I know that’s not how it works. If a product is bad, it gets set aside and credited by the distributor — plain and simple. Instead of doing right by a regular customer, he put the $8 loss (which isn’t even his wholesale cost) on me, refusing to make it right. It’s not about the money — it’s about basic customer service and decency. Refusing to swap two bottles of bad product is just absurd. I shouldn’t feel uneasy shopping at a local deli in my own town, especially one I’ve supported regularly. I won’t be coming back after today.
