First time here and it feels like Iām walking into a European cafe. So much light and openness. Very uplifting, classy environment. The staff are attentively standing around in their white coats waiting to help. You order yourself up at the counter and then they will bring you your order if youāre staying. I was on the move so got mine to go: cold brew coffee and an almond croissant. The coffee was good and I like that they have the lids that donāt require straws. The almond croissant was good, but a little dry, so not great. I donāt know, maybe if I had eaten in they would have warmed it up and it would have been better. Definitely a place to check out and a place Iām heading back to for more of their offerings. Update 10/9/24 - so I went back and this time with a friend who travels the world and he says no, this isnāt like a classic Italian cafe, itās like an NYC cafe, so I stand corrected. We got egg sandwiches, which were okay, but nothing exceptional and a bit skimpy. I also got another almond croissant and unfortunately they didnāt heat it up. When I asked a waiter if there was someone to whom I could offer a friendly suggestion, he said to tell him. So I made the suggestion that when someone orders a baked good to dine in that they ask if you would like it warmed up. To my surprise he said, āoh we do that, you should have askedā. To which I replied, āif you do that, it would be nice if you offered to do it since I would have no way of knowing.ā So Iām bumping down my service rating. Weāll see what itās like...
Read moreToday, I visited this café around 11:00 a.m. and ordered a latte, which is my usual choice. I selected a table near the register for studying, ensuring that my computer screen faced inward to avoid glare and to study my lessons effectively.
Around 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., a waiter, who was White and slender, approached me in a rude manner. He repeatedly asked if I was listening to him, and I clearly responded that I was. He then complained that it was unfair for me to occupy a table meant for five people, and that he had been observing me there and felt it was unjust. He expressed this in a loud tone and then asked, "Do you understand what Iām saying?" I confirmed that I did, and he repeated his question.
It is important to note that the cafƩ was crowded, and I did not want to engage in a confrontation with him. His attitude seemed rude and potentially racist, especially since there were two other women who arrived at the same time and were either studying or working on their computers as well. However, he only addressed me. As a Hispanic individual, I felt that his behavior was discriminatory and unpleasant.
He never offered to move me to a smaller table, even though there were other tables available. Instead, he ended the interaction with the repeated question, "Do you understand what Iām saying?" despite knowing that I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreService was a little strange because we were sat at a table but no one mentioned we had to order in back first. We also recieved our sandwiches before our coffee or pastries showed up, which is kind of odd considering the pastries are all pre-made and ready to go.
The sandwiches came out pretty quick, which was nice. We enjoyed the prosciutto option and egg option, and the avocado test was pretty decent too. The Nutella stuffed croissant was large enough for 2 and fairly enjoyable. The Pistachio latte, on the other hand, is a complete train wreck. I still can't understand how they got so far off from what an actual Pistachio latte is. Starbucks even does a better one, it's bizarre.
The atmosphere was clean and busy for a Sunday brunch period, however, I am concerned that they built this restaurant for Easter Sunday rather than a typical Sunday service. Meaning, they likely don't get as much business during the rest of the week and I'm worried it may struggle to stay open for a few years or possibly reduce hours to account for this.
The value is probably fine here, and I don't think I was disappointed, but I also don't think I'll make a trip to return any time soon. Overall,...
