I love Indian food, I hate cilantro. Wow. My other favorite food? Mexican. Since I was in the Mexican restaurant business for many years Iāve heard numerous jokes, teased, and gently made in fun of. Btw, cilantro is not native to Mexico and in fact a large population seems to be genetically inclined to think it tastes soap like. In my case add a touch of ptsd. I became interested in herbs as an elementary school kid and got permission to have my own little patch. I grew coriander for the seeds and upon seeing the leaves looked a little like parsley I tried it. I did not know if it was poisonous or not and do not recommend experiments like this. It tasted so bad that I was sure I was going to die!!! I brushed my teeth multiple times and everything else I could think of. As a vegetarian, Mexican food is pretty nutritious and interesting. I began cooking it (sin cilantro) for me and my friends. It wasnāt until I went to a Mexican restaurant that I rediscovered cilantro. So, back to Tanjore. I wanted to like it (and mostly did) and let them know of my almost pathological distaste of cilantro. I was pleased to know they mostly use it as a garnish. The fryer is only used for non meat items so I ordered somosas. They were slightly darker than I like and looked a little dry when I opened one but they were delicious! The plain rice was very good if a little saltier than is usual for plain rice. I also had sag paneer. Very tasty. I ordered vegetable biryani. Oh, no. Cilantro. By the time someone came around I was close to done. They insisted on making a new one. When it came out I was getting my doggie bag. I didnāt really want to take it without tasting it and I was ready to go so I refused it. They adjusted my bill and gave me a little freebie without prompting. So why only 3 stars? To me 5 is overwhelming amazing and I donāt give out a lot. 4 is very good and three is good. This was a solid 3 and I would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love Indian food. Iāve eaten it a bunch of times at many different places. My family and self lived in India for a short period of time when I was a child, so Iām pretty familiar with their food. I ordered the Lamb Pasanda (a mild curry made with cashews and yogurt) and the lamb Korma (a mild curry made with Almonds, yogurt, and saffron). I couldnāt tell the difference between the dishes, one seemed a little hotter than the other, but if I had to guess Iād say they used the same exact gravy on both, which would be fine had it had some meat in it. The āchunksā of lamb were few and far between and about the size of chiclets gum. There was hardly any meat at all. Thatās my biggest complaint. I couldāve dealt with the two dishes tasting exactly the same but the lack of meat didnāt make it feel like a meal and Iām a light eater. This is the 2nd time I ordered these dishes from here and it was the same both times so I wonāt be ordering from there any longer. Thereās way better Indian restaurants...

As another review said, this is hands-down the best Indian food in Dutchess County. My family has searched for years to find a match to an Indian restaurant on the upper West side of Manhattan that we went to almost every week for years before it suddenly closed down and broke our heartsš„ŗWe found it at Tanjore𤩠Iām very slowly making my way through the menu. But the things are so good I find myself sometimes ordering a dish I had before instead of trying a new one. Itās all so damn yummy. And they cook to your taste -hot or hotter, a little sweet, sweeter āyou ask and they will accommodate. Clean, comfortable, family-friendly. Good relaxed atmosphere for a first date to show of that youāre cultured and try different things. Why are you still reading...
