The Cakery Fishkill — Restaurant in Town of Fishkill

Wanted to give this place a try for my baby shower and ordered a custom ‘It’s a Boy’ cake and two dozen cake pops as party favors. I visited them about 2-3 weeks prior to my event to explain what I was looking for along with photos of my ideas. The morning of my baby shower I went as soon as they opened to pickup my order and the custom cake came out amazing but the cake pops were horrible and not what I ordered. To my knowledge and in their display case, a cake pop comes on a stick and is individually wrapped (which I asked when placing my order) what I received was just cake balls in a cupcake paper. I asked them did I place the order wrong and why they weren’t “pops” and they told me “No, we must’ve missed what was written on the order paper”. I told them I couldn’t accept the cake balls on the paper because I needed the pops as gifts to give out and was extremely disappointed. A manager from the back came out and explained they somehow missed the fact that they were supposed to be pops?? She offered a discount and I said no because I needed what I originally ordered and I didn’t have enough time before my shower to figure another option. She then said if I could come back in an hour they could remake the pops but didn’t have the flavors I ordered to begin with. What I don’t understand is how this can happen when it was placed in advance as a CAKE POP. I also wasn’t happy with how she spoke to me and approached the situation. My shower was at 12:00 and had to make two trips to the bakery because of their mistake and ended up being late to my own event which was very upsetting. On the second trip back to pickup my order I asked if they would be willing to give a discount for the inconvenience and my order not being how I placed it and was told there was nothing else they could do. So I have always enjoyed occasionally stopping by The Cakery to pick up some goodies. When planning my baby shower I had seen they do custom sugar cookies and quickly decided to order from them. Custom sugar cookies are not cheap. I picked up my order 2 days before my event and most of the cookies were correct however there were random letters on each individual baby block where you couldn’t actually spell BABY. I called them and expressed my concern. The first girl I talked to said she doesn’t think anything can be done other than them refunding the cost of the 4 cookies. Later I get a call saying they will redo the cookies the next morning for pick up in the afternoon. When I arrived the customer service was lacking. I didn’t get any apologies and it felt very cold and unwelcoming. I thanked them for the 4 cookies and the lady said the blue may not match perfectly but it will be close and they didn’t bag them because they were made that day so they attached bags for me to handle later. I noticed immediately how much darker the blue was compared to the original baby blue but figured I’d get home and see what it looks like. Upon getting home I see how drastically different the coloring is, if you look closely some of the bordering blue is missing from the B and the Y which it seems like it was rushed, and the cookies don’t fit in the bags, I had to cut the sides to get them in. I’m a little disappointed but I’m not generally overly picky - I just feel the customer service should have been better. A baby shower is a big deal to those to struggles to get to that point. The photo to the right was my inspiration and was told she would do her best to recreate although I would have to supply the candy which I did. My party was on Sunday so I had to pick up on Saturday. I never spoke to the owner in person just the counter help. I assumed the owner or manager was on location during my two visits as the counter help had to keep walking in the back to get the answer to my questions. I emailed my dissatisfaction with the entire transaction and never heard back. My daughter was very upset that she did not get even close to what she was looking for. At no point did we order chocolate icing. The cupcakes were arranged in an ‘A’ on the board and did not know they were not secure in anyway, as the board was much larger than the amount of cupcakes that we had. By the time we left the parking lot, the cupcakes were on top of each other in the corner of the box. I would say if the cupcakes were delicious I would have swallowed this whole debacle and moved on. However, the cupcakes were mediocre at best. Needless to say, this Is the First and last time Giving business to the Cakery. I try to think local first, but in this case I would have been way better off ordering from the local supermarket as they never disappoint in price, flavor...
