I usually never write any bad reviews about any business, but this was just unbelievable. First time I ordered a cake from Il Corso Pastry Shop for my husband’s birthday. I got it yesterday. Lady from the store placed it in the car herself. By the time it got to my house, the top half completely slid off the cake. Like a clean cut. The cake didn’t tilt, slide, or move from the plate at all. The top half just completely came off. It wasn’t even a two tier cake. From my multiple experiences of ordering cakes, I know that’s not supposed to happen. Very disappointing to say the least. I called the shop to complain, but the owner was unavailable. Okay. So I spoke to the lady who took my order on the phone, but she was not helpful at all. She kept saying she couldn’t do anything to help me or compensate for their mistake. Basically, she tried to throw the blame on me as if it was my fault that the cake broke in half. As if I knew that was going to happen. Lol. I asked if I could speak to a manager or an assistant manager. She said they didn’t have people in those positions at their bakery. At this point I’m very frustrated so I asked to speak to someone else, but “no one could come to the phone.” In conclusion, it was glaringly apparent that the people who work at Il Corso Pastry Shop don’t know what to do in the absence of the owner when mishaps/problems like this happen. They have no protocol to follow because that’s the same response I got today as well when I called back. I’m extremely dissatisfied with their customer service. It is point-blank terrible. I sent them an email twice. No response back. I called again today and apparently the owner was conveniently unavailable again. I was told the owner would call back. I left my name and number again. Still waiting on that...
Read moreIf the customer service was any indication of whether they do good business, I'd give them a thumbs down. For starters, their $15 minimum credit card purchase requirement is outdated in this day and age. Secondly, the person behind the counter didn't seem at all enthused at answering my questions (pricing, flavors of Italian donuts)--a red flag to a new customer. The combination of the two is why they will never have me as one.
Note: as a longtime Valley Stream resident, I'd love to to support my local businesses. However, the above example is why I don't have many options to do so and have to leave town to get what a paying customer like me deserves (great pastries and great...
Read moreThe sfogliatelle (lobster tail) at this bakery is incredible! I am a fan. However, the first time that I went there, I felt rushed the minute I walked in. The woman did not give me a chance to look around she immediately said “Yes? Can I help you?”…. It’s rude and uncomfortable. The second time, there was a young lady there who was fairly pleasant. Today when I went, there was a gentleman there and when I asked for the sfogliatelle, he was just rushing me to tell him how many pieces I’d like. Makes for an uncomfortable situation. Like I said, great bakery, but please work on...
