MacArthur Park — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Took guests there on a Friday night and there were no other people in the dining room. We were all alone. I could tell my guests were uneasy about it and I was wondering if it had become a terrible restaurant now, since I had been there a long time ago and liked it and decided to go here on that basis. I was so embarrassed. Maybe we should have walked out? They had a high flame cook that night because the appetizers were burnt and so were the onion rings. Otherwise, the food came out good, except the next day both my guests complained of agita/heartburn. My husband and I were okay. We live in Manhattan, so we've been to a lot of good restaurants, but while visiting my sister's house, we had a satisfying dinner at this Irish restaurant in Rockville Center, Long Island, with fresh ingredients and a menu faithful to the original, with ample portions and prices. I really liked it because it didn't seem like frozen vegetables. My mom, my sister, and my cute little daughters, ages 3 and 7, had a great meal. I'm sorry the kids were making a fuss. Please look cute with plenty of tips :)

The service was a little slow , there were no kids chairs for my 3 and 7 year olds, and the potatoes (my favorite) were so burnt that I am taking off one star. I hope I can give you five stars...

We have been there many times and love it. I'm a creature of habit and always order the same thing, the Sauerbraten with fried potato pancakes and red cabbage. U get a hefty potion. Actually, I've never finished a meal b/c the food is so plentiful. There is always enough for another meal. It is delicious! My husband and son are always trying new items and they love whatever they are eating. The wait staff is efficent and friendly. The only problem is sitting next to unruly kids and parents who pay no attention to them. The kids were running around the restaurant and annoying the other patrons.
