I recently stopped at Raspberries of New Hartford for breakfast. The waitress was very prompt and friendly. Our food came out quickly but was very greasy. I am scoring Raspberries so poorly because we were very dissatisfied with the hostess and cashier. When it came time to pay we had given them some cash and a credit card. We asked that they take the cash off and then put the remaining balance on the card. We got the receipt back and noticed that they had charged the card too much. We had given them 32 dollars in cash but they had only taken off 27 dollars. The cashier grew very angry with our waitress and insisted that she had counted it correctly. (Why would we lie about 5 dollars!?) Also, no where on the receipt did it say how much cash was taken off the bill, which I found very odd. The cashier wouldn't return our money. This prompted our waitress to take 5 dollars out of her tips and give it to us. She was obviously trying to solve the problem, but it was not her mistake to correct. Absolutely terrible customer service on the cashier's part!! We gave the waitress back her 5 dollars and informed her that she was great but we would not be...
Read moreWe generally go to the Raspberries on Genesee St, but decided to mix it up and visit the one in Commercial Drive instead... We'll likely stick with Genesee St in the future.
We ordered standard breakfast fare, and it came out quickly... The problem was, it was also undercooked. Over easy eggs were more "over quickly," which is forgiveable. Hash browns, however, were still slimy on the bottom and if they were never flipped. "Why didn't you mention it to the waitress?" You might ask... Well, having 2 kids under 3 years old means we don't eat out much (they are kids... Somewhat messy, somewhat loud; we don't like to force them in fellow patrons too often). Waiting for hash browns to be remade would have pushed the limits of toddler patience. I also don't think hash browns are worthy of the same forgiveness as say, a steak that isn't cooked to quite the right temperature... They should just be...

The vibe is much like a classic diner (in fact the New Hartford location was a diner some years ago).
I’ve never been for lunch or dinner, but their breakfast is the star of the show. I had their Gaimbrotte which is an enormous breakfast scramble with peppers, onions, potatoes and more. I had their marble rye toast and it was outstandingly delicious.
My wife had the Irish skillet and loved it.
The service was really good with the staff keeping up with refilling our coffees and water. The helpings are very large, so much so that we each brought at least half of our meals home for breakfast the next day (also very tasty) It’s not an inexpensive meal but with a large helping one of their skillets could easily be shared by 2 people.
We will be back for another great breakfast at some point in the near future to either this or their...
