So I like Starbucks in NYC…and when people complain about NYC is rude and uncaring, let me refresh your memory on Central NY!! So originally Starbucks was about serving a specific kind of gourmet coffee from different parts of the world for world unity and awareness. Over the years this establishment has really lost its focus especially during the early 2000s when they were hiring college graduates during the many different stages of inflation and recession years. Fast forward to today, opening Starbucks in suburban and small town areas, and we have a modified version of big city glam. Problem is, the business in making THIS kind of coffee is lost in areas like here. There isn’t the sophistication, purpose, or collective agreement anymore. Now it’s all about give me NYC branded Starbucks in the suburbs with pajama wearing, half clean half messy bun, entitled “customers” who believe they need this experience to live, and feel fulfilled when they finally get there coffee from a trained barista (which by the way takes a while to master) and then given a rude or nasty review or comment by most people in this site…no wonder you feel this way. If you want privilege go to NYC and get your frilly coffee…but if you want just a nice coffee with wholesome baristas and service people, don’t expect the Ritz when you know you’re getting a carbon copy of an illusion of the Ritz. It’s all smoke and mirrors. You get what you pay for. The Barnes and Noble location of Starbucks is so much better because of the establishment. The in store franchises are different from the stand alone stores and depending on the location, you get what you pay for. Don’t complain about buying Gucci in a flea market!!
All in all, I knew when they opened at this location what to expect. But each time I came in I was always treated with respect and consideration because I treated the service people that way. And I tip them too!! It goes a long way! I gave three stars because I don’t like the long lines here. I also like the coziness of the layout when it’s not overrun by obnoxious and entitled...
Read moreI’ve been waiting for a stand alone Starbucks to open since I moved to Utica in 2014. I was extremely excited when I found out they were opening one up and with a drive-thru. That’s all I’ve been waiting for since having my son, a drive thru.
Super stoked we made sure to watch the progress of the store being build and know when opening day was.
The store is beautiful, no doubt. Would love to go in to finish up work or just catch up with friends.
The service/ coffee, horrible. Listen, I am not one to ever ever write reviews; I feel horrible doing them because of the workers. But this is just Awful. I’ve been there atleast 6 out of the 7 days this week and had my drink made once perfectly.
My iced green tea I got in the drive thru.. was water. So I had to go in, unbuckle my rowdy toddler , to ask for them to fix it. She did happily... still water than tea. ( the color wasn’t even there). She fixed 3 times for me until I just asked for a completely new drink.
Let me also tell you I really am not picky, it may come off this way with the review but I am not. The baristas simply do not know how to make the drinks.
My husband needed a Americano with room left for almond milk ( blonde with purple hair)
The cashier asked if he wanted water at all in it ...what ?
My frappe today, java chip. It was ice with syrup. I watched her do it ( blonde with blue hair).
I went to the Barnes and noble and they happily fixed me drink for me
I really hope a manager does read this, I will also be calling head quarters because your drinks aren’t cheap and I’m wasting money being disappointed over and over.
Also the drive thru line...
Read moreI’d been going to the New Hartford Starbucks for years—since they first opened. It is well known that the staff typically isn’t the most personable however, that never bothered me. After years of trying so many different drinks, I finally found a coffee that I truly enjoyed—with the help of a few baristas that created it! It was exciting to finally be able to go in and confidently order a coffee when out on a coffee date. Recently though, the new staff, especially the Supervisor Jamie, have been exceedingly unkind. Outside of my recent poor experiences, I’ve had several people discuss instances of feeling uncomfortable there. I’ve been waiting almost a week for a call from the RM because I just cannot justify letting the stark mistreatment slide. It’s really disappointing to be happy to spend your money at an establishment only to be made to feel like you are unwelcome. I really hope they start to see that customers are not the enemy and we aren’t a hassle for just ordering our drinks or breakfast. I hope Jamie works on not berating and yelling at customers for asking for and WILLINGLY paying for a drink customization. A little kindness...
