I recently visited Dry- Fly in New Paltz, New York. Just off the main drag away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Conveniently located nestled right off the Rail Trail. This idyllic location can bring a beautiful view of nature while being comfortable during unpleasant weather. Plenty of walkway and handicap accessible entrances, with modern clean atmosphere interior and exterior. Located on the back of the building away from traffic with large windows to let natural lighting indoors. Plenty of furniture for a solo person to enjoy some downtime or a plentiful amount of grouped seating for families and friends to relax and enjoy their freshly made pastries on site.
Wide variety of coffees with sustainability as a primary focus. Dry Fly utilizes energy efficient technology to maximize the coffee roasting process.
Several options for gluten free, and other dietary restrictions and lifestyles, Dry Fly makes a wonderful attempt to please every palate.
I highly recommend stopping in and speaking with the owners they are very friendly and make the time to chat with all their loyal customers.
The only drawback is the acoustics can absorb the voices of conversations for me personally. I do suffer from not being hear to certain frequencies so this may be a anomaly for me. Overall a pleasant atmosphere and a welcomed addition to the local venue. We wish Dry Fly a tremendous amount of success in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I were visiting the area for a quick getaway, and I had scoped this place out in advance because they roasted their own beans. We immediately loved the atmosphere when we got there - nice clean and open space with views of trees and the walking trail.
The staff were all friendly, and it turned out that it was the owner who helped us. I'm a black drip/pour over coffee guy who's looking for light/medium roasts - shockingly hard to find these roasted & brewed well in my experience. He recommended a pour over of a limited coffee that they had, and one of the baristas made it. Verdict: It was fantastic, and my wife loved her sesame latte as well.
It rained the next day, and our outdoor plans got cancelled. We headed back to the Dry Fly for a lazy morning, and got food along with our drinks. The breakfast sandwich and pastry were solid, and we both enjoyed our drinks again.
I'd highly recommend the Dry Fly to anyone visiting the area, especially those who love drip or pour over coffee that's on the lighter to medium part of the roast spectrum. The owner even came over and chatted with us a few times during both visits, very hands-on which seems rare these days! We will definitely return soon, we loved our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really want to love this place. I really do. But EVERY time I've been here I have some kind of bad experience.
The seating is nice, the location is excellent, the drinks are ok, the bread is good.
The first time I visited I got a latte sweet, and when I got to sip the drink it wasn't sweet. I went to the counter, let them know. "There's sugar over there you can add" ok, I guess. I asked if they had simple syrup so I wouldn't have sugar at the bottom of my drink. "No, the sugar is over there" Whatever.
Next visit. I brought a date. Recommended the place because I liked the vibe. My drink was actually good, unfortunately they refused to heat up his mushroom and cheese croissant. He was a good sport and ate it cold. It was not great cold (I tried a bite). Not the end of the world I guess.
Next visit, got a sesame latte. Great flavor, but the Halvah (I'm guessing) they used in the drink never dissolved and was like hair in my mouth. Kinda gross, looked disgusting to my friend i was hanging out with, tasted good.
It's honestly a really cute place, right by the walking trail. I really wanna like it, but so far it's all been misses. Maybe my mind will change, but it's a last resort for coffee shops in the...
