Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza & Wings — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

It saddens me to leave a 2 star review for a restaurant with such delicious food. I’ve been coming to Anthony’s for years, including their Woodbury location. Unfortunately the experience is uniform throughout both locations. The staff is extremely young, inexperienced, and simply unable to attend to their customers. The tables take 30 minutes to be turned. If you’re dining in, you’re also sitting next to tables that are cleared (people wise), yet have dirty dishes and leftovers all over them. It is extremely unappealing and it’s just not one or two tables. It’s several tables at once, leaving the restaurant looking extremely dirty and unsanitary.

The waitstaff could absolutely be friendlier, eager to serve their customers. I was sitting at our table and witnessed two different parties walk in. No one greeted them, said hello or acknowledged their arrival. Both parties quickly walked out. The staff didn’t even know they waited for easily 4-6 minutes without a “welcome”. They didn’t even know they left! What surprises me and truthfully upsets me is their lack in caring about their guests, service, and simply their restaurants appearance. We waited a good 20 minutes to just have water at the table. And we had to ask twice! The bartender was also our waiter, which is fine, no harm in that. But it was clearly too much for him to juggle (bar, tables, and curbside). I kept having to get up and go to the bar if we needed something. I wish I can say this particular night they were understaffed. But it’s a consistent experience every time we dine in at this restaurant.

This place needs more staff, training, and experienced people working for them in order to retain their business. There are plenty of delicious coal fired pizza places in NY. Their food is delicious but their service is extremely subpar.

The restaurant appeared ro be very nice. Our experience there was not. We were excited to have wood fired pizza, which is usually a very hot oven, that cooks the pies quickly, and chars the crust just right. Our waitress was very polite. We ordered the garlic knots, wings, two pizzas, and at least one margarita drink. The first order was unbelievably hard and bordered on inedible. The server took them back, and delivered another serving that was also hard. She agreed to take them off of our order. The wings were enjoyed. The margaritas took a long time to be delivered, and I was told, since I do not drink alcohol, that ot tasted like it was sour only, and appeared to not have any alcohol in it. When the bartender walked by, since she was a server as well, she insisted that there was alcohol in it, "cause she made it." We then observed two tables who came in after us that were served pizza before we received ours. When our pizza arrived we noticed the char, however the sauce and toppings were cool. There were at least two large pieces of garlic on my pizza that I ate by accident, assuming they were small onions rather than garlic. Although my family and I usually enjoy dining in here with no issues, today I decided to take out. I called in my order ahead of pick up. When I got there, it was a bit busy being it superbowl Sunday but I continued to wait patiently as I watched one lady shuffle behind the counter, never addressing my presence before walking off and another gentleman coming over and taking her place. I stood there for 3 minutes or so, ALONE while this took place. The young man then decides to look up and address a patron who had come in behind me with a "can I help you sir?" I immediately inserted myself by asking, did you not see me standing here to which he replies, "oh I thought you were being helped." I then ask well what made you think that? Surely you didn't ask me if I had been helped the way you asked the gentleman who arrived after me. Omitting all other factors that could have contributed to this disturbing encounter, I will chuck it up to very poor customer service. It was humiliating and disheartening to say the least and I have frequented this establishment several times in my past.
