I had gone to dinner here quite a bit. Tonight was one of the worst times I have ever had. The waiter’s was going to put in our order before taking my order as I sat right next to her. She was more interested in talking to us about her other job. She took my order and walked away. We sat there for quite awhile before we got our appetizers. The chicken wings were cold. Then the manager on tonight brought out our meals. I got the wrong steak, never gave us a steak knife. She came back, I told her that isn’t what I ordered. She walked away to get steak knives. Went said something to manager. They stood in the corner saying that there wasn’t anything on the menu with shrimp and steak. She came back and told me that it was only chicken that came with shrimp. I said give me a menu and I will show you. She didn’t want me to touch the menu. But I said I wanted it. I finally showed her exactly what I ordered. I told her that I wasn’t going to eat something that I didn’t order. She told me it was her fault she put my order in wrong. Finally got the right meal after everyone else was done eating. Then they put extra shrimp on it because she messed up. She never stopped to see if we were doing good or needed anything. Then come to give us the bill, and says the wrong meal was taken off and right one was put on the bill. I’m sorry but I don’t agree with that at all. The manager and her should have taken off a little bit for my meal see how they messed up and I had to wait to get it after everyone was done eating. I have had one other problem there and a total different manager was our waiter and we said something about meal being wrong. He replaced it right away and gave us that meal for free due to it being their mistake. I know I will not be eating there again in case Matt is working. Read moreI will NEVER eat at Applebee's again - especially at the Oneonta Franchise. After a long 12 hour drive from Knoxville Tennessee in a rented Uhaul van - bone tired and ravenously hungry - I agreed to eat at Applebee's in Oneonta on the suggestion of my son. We waited 10 minutes (expected, no problem) and were seated in a booth. The birthday song that occurred at the other end of the restaurant was jarring, but not unexpected. I read the menu cover to cover and found nothing for a heart conscious customer (I'm a diagnosed CHF patient). I ordered the Green Goddess Wedge, intending to scrape off the dressing to reduce the sodium and fat. The salad was half core and stem - inedible - woody and the salad equivalent of bones in your sirloin steak (I photographed it, and intend to post it to all review sites). I complained and asked our server to convey this to the chef. Nothing. No apology. No offer of a salad replacement. Any chef worth their salt would have talked to the customer and offered a replacement. There are only four explanations: 1. The server did not convey my message to the cook staff. 2. The cook staff ignored my message. 3. Applebee's does not allow chefs to directly interact with customers. 4. Applebee's does not employ real chefs, just corporate managers. All four scenarios are awful, insensitive, and just bad service. [Update Aug 26 2018: The Oneonta franchise confirmed that chefs are not employed. There are no chefs. They also confirmed that they (the franchise) did not respond to my critique. The response says it comes from the owners. This is complex. The managers at the Oneonta franchise were not aware of this review, nor did they respond to it. Apparently Applebee's corporate responds to complaints as if they were the owners. At which time we also made our app order n our entire order. That was last time we saw waiter until was time for check. Was not at all busy other wait staff brought us food no one asked if we need drinks since we had our first ones at 1150 and it’s now almost 1230.then when our waiter asking for our food order he asked if fries were ok w my meal he asked I didn’t ask he asked I said oh yes fries good can I get a side of mayo he says yes! However I received onion rings w meal n no side of mayo I told The wait staff that delivered our food that he offered me fries, ok we will let him know . 1230 no drink refill incorrect food and top it all off my tacos were ice cold n soggy. Our waiter came by and I asked for check he said oh n ur fries I said no bother I’m full off apps! Nothing was taken off the bill for inconvenience no apologies made! Our bill was 87.81 beef brisket tacos quesadilla burger brunch burger three mucho drinks ch milk and two apps. So now it’s time for our bill-he brings it w to go containers , I again tell him don’t worry bout fries I’m full and it’s a waste please don’t bring to table.
