We decided to come here for dinner and were extremely disappointed. The first night we tried, we were told the kitchen had closed an hour before. That was fine, but they should have some sort of signage or information available so we could know that. I had looked on their site and had a printout from the hotel regarding their hours-nothing mentioned the kitchen closing at a different time. We tried to come again another night and well...
You are supposed to seat yourself, so we decided to sit in the back room (we didn't want a high table). There was a worker in that back room, and she never said a word to us. After about 15 minutes of no contact from any worker, we decided to move to the front. We realized after that they were setting up for a party in the back room. Why we were not told this and asked to move rather than just outright ignored is beyond me!
We sat down and were given menus immediately. Shortly after that, the bar tender came to our table and asked "can I get you anything else?" Considering we had yet to get anything I found this odd, but thought it was probably a slip of the tongue. We ordered our drinks, and she went to get them. After a short while, she returned with them, and again asked if she could get us anything else. We told her we wanted to order food, to which she said that's fine. She just needed to grab the tablet and would be back. We waited a long while before she finally returned and said "can I get you anything else?" Uhhh yeah we'd like to order food? Clearly she had forgotten about us, but thankfully she had the tablet so we were able to order. My husband also asked for another drink.
She left our table again and never. returned. We watched as two other parties left without paying because they were not being serviced, and another party come and go because they never even received menus, let alone any other service. After being at this bar for around an hour and a half and only receiving one drink each, my husband finally walked up to the bar to cancel our food and pay for our drinks... which still took him at least 15 minutes of just standing there waiting 🤦♀️
Overall, the one woman behind the bar seemed new and probably overwhelmed as it looked like she was the only one seriously working. The other worker tended to the party in the back mostly, but I often saw her standing around drinking a beer. Overall, they probably just need some servers as having someone man the bar and the tables is quite ridiculous, and clearly some system...
Read moreThis could actually be a pretty good place but, after a few times here the service is really horrible. Like pathetic horrible. Staff here enjoys talking to each other behind bar way more then they care about watching and taking care of patrons. The food is actually pretty decent but the service literally takes it way down. Whenever the blonde is working the bar ,usually in a sweater and jeans and high boots and the dude who is all tattooed up ....its really horrible. The two of them back there walk around like their stuff doesn't stink and could literally care less about whether you need a drink or if you want to order food. Both are super cold and short when they speak to you and its shame. We are here with a big group in the Comfort Inn doing a cable project and will probably be here through next year. We have a lot of guys and most of the guys that are here with us have the same complaint, bad service. And you get a feeling like your not welcomed there.....whenever I visit a place I try to tip well so each time the service is great but here it doesn't matter they just don't care. We will continue to stay at the Comfort Inn (which is an awesome hotel, with great Cust.. serv) but will eat and drink elsewhere. It's a shame ,there's a lot of money to be made off of our group ,we tend to eat a lot, drink a lot and leave great tips. No worries, huge loss for this place. Try to remember the customers are what makes a place great....word of mouth is key. One quick update...the old guy that works behind the bar, always wears the long sleeve shirt and is funny, always does an awesome job. If they had more bartenders like him that pay attention to the bar and patrons it would be great. He talks to you , and he knows whats going on....you dont wait forever and if your drink is almost empty he is already asking or making your next...
Read moreFriday night, date night out with my husband. We chose this restaurant to support our local business owners. Before we arrived, we did our homework, reviewed their website and checked out their menu. We knew what we were going to order beforehand. That changed real quick... We were handed our menus to find a scaled down version, the prices blown up considerably in comparison the the website. The server told us that the kitchen was being "fixed up" and they had to modify their menu. We ordered their appetizer platter, Cheese Sticks, Onion Rings & Chicken Strips... All frozen processed food items. The cheese sticks were cold and pasty. The dipping sauces came from a squeeze bottle. For the main event, we both went with the Fish Fry. It looked like a brick, thick overcooked batter, tasteless fish, sitting a top a plateful of cold fries and a tiny cup of Heinz tarter sauce. No veggies, not even a sprig of parsley for a splash of color. Had to go to the bar to get our Bill so we could pay and leave. We decided after the first bite that we would not return. If I wanted to eat frozen processed tasteless food, I would have gone to the freezer section at Walmart. Shame on you Plattsburgh...
