Greeting staff was weird and aloof with reception. The portions are small, we weren't offered more vegetables as is standard at other locations to supplement kiddie portions. We stared at our empty plates for a good 20 minutes. Then We stared at an empty table waiting for our desert for an additional 40 minutes. Waiters at the table in front and in back of us talked to their friends who were seated the entire time while our waiter was MIA, and my for cocktail was missing sprite, a much needed ingredient. I didn't want to leave a tip but I left a small one anyway. This location is right down there with your neighborhood Applebees with Capital Grill prices, child sized portions, and inattentive and unprofessional wait staff. Lots of construction around the area, forcing us to walk in traffic. Parking meter pay stations broken, so it's a towing trap, beware of be prepared to hike in 50.mile an hour traffic to get to this place.
Response from the owner is a lot of inadequate passive justifications. I know the melting pot is a fondue restaurant, I go to the NJ Cherry Hill and previously Philadelphia PA, locations on many occasions. The Towson MD, Melting Pot paled in comparison by far. No, they may not be able to control traffic construction around the area, but that doesn't mean you can avoid walking through the 50 MPH traffic, in a very high traffic area, does it? And what about the hour plus of waiting for entres??? How do you explain waiting 20 minutes for raw food? And then waiting 40-47 minutes for pre made desserts? And what about the cocktail missing ingredients? I regret leaving a tip, this location is pitiful and I will never visit it again. Lame excuses, that don't justify their horrible service and things that are very much in their control. This is all a reflection on management. A new manager could make all the difference. I will discourage everyone I know in MD from even thinking about this Towson location as a dining option. Stop making excuses and start making some better management choices and maybe people will be okay with paying $45 per entre, for 3 shrimp, three walnut sized cubes of salmon, and three walnut sized pieces of duck, all unseasoned. 9 bites of meat for $45. The Bonefish Grill is close, and everything they serve is delicious and the service is always at least up to par. They serve real portions for less money, better appetizers salads, desserts, and properly made drinks. GO BONEFISH GRILL INSTEAD,...
Read moreWent here for the first time for our anniversary. LOVE IT!!! From the minute we walked in. When you walk in you can smell the wonderful spices that they use. First we arrived 15-20min late and they still accepted us. Now, keep in mind that this is at 5:30pm. The atmosphere is romantic for couples, they made sure that we were seated were we had privacy not just by the seating but also by the lighting. However, this place is also inviting for families as well. The ace is very well maintained and clean. The selection of drinks has something for everyone. My fiance even wanted a certain beverage called the "Baltimore Zoo" it wasn't on the menu but, bartender offered to make it. The manager even came around to introduce herself. The food was fantastic. We choose to do the 4 course section. Everything we had was fresh (even the fruit) and tender. The cuts of meats, cheeses, broths, vegetables and sauces are excellent. It made me wishing I could eat more. I also had the Cesar salad which was wonderful. Love the dressing on it. The server we had Collin was one of the best severs that I have had in a long time (if ever). He has very courteous and explained everything since it was our first time. Throughout our meal he continued to check with us to see how we were doing, if we needed anything else, or just to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. During our meal he overheard that we were celebrating our anniversary. So, it was a surprise to us when he came out with the dessert portion and a plate that had a chocolate stencil that said happy anniversary. After that he even wanted to do a champagne toast. All of this because he overheard our conversation. We couldn't be happier with the attention to detail that he had given us. He helped make this evening and our anniversary special. We definitely plan on visiting again. And if you visit ask to be in his section if possible. I know that we will. I do want to say thank you to ALL of the staff for making this an enjoyable evening...
Read moreThis was my first time dining at a fondue restaurant-- I should also note this is where I picked to eat my birthday dinner (and it was also my parent's anniversary). That being said, we were celebrating on a very special Saturday night.
Our reservation was for 6:45, but we were seated closer to 7:30. The hostesses offered us to sit and have a drink at the bar while we waited. We should have taken them up on the offer, in hindsight. The 45 minute wait was a little unacceptable... especially with a reservation.
After being seated, our server learned that it was our first time dining with them. She explained the menu thoroughly and left us alone to decide. Twenty minutes later she returned to take our drink orders, which came out with our first course... another twenty minutes later. (DO NOT plan on having a quick meal at this place, and make sure you like the company you're sitting with... because you'll be spending about 3 hours with them.)
We ordered the special lobster/cheese fondue. Our burner was acting up, which took our server an extra 15 minutes to prepare the sauce. I realize this was not her fault in the slightest, but it still was disheartening after waiting for so many other things. Our salads and entrees came out quickly after we had finished the first course, which was nice. We all ordered different plates and shared. Cooking the food in the broth was something new and different, which I really enjoyed-- and the quality of the food was fantastic, and the presentation was equally impressive.
Dessert will win you over, hands down. We ordered the Flaming Turtle fondue, which comes out, and the server flambes it for you at the table. The Oreo-crusted marshmallows and the fresh strawberries were my absolute favorite.
I can't give them any higher than the three because of the wait. We ended up not leaving the restaurant until almost 10PM. It was an interesting experience, but definitely not for everyone. If I ever go back, I think it will just be for...
