Folgarelli's Market & Wine Shop — Restaurant in Traverse City

Folgarelli's is an outstanding specialty market with deli sandwiches that are absolutely wonderful. In my view, these are the best sandwiches in Michigan, maybe even the world.

This specialty market has many imported grocery items and a great wine selection. Olives, pastas, and many other dry and canned goods are available, just to name a few.

But the real star of the show here is the deli.

An astounding array of cheese from all over the world is available, as well as a wide selection of deli meats. Italian specialties like salami and capicola, and American standards like roast beef and turkey are all here. You can buy meat and cheese by the pound and make your own sandwich, but the smart move here is to have Folgarelli's make you one.

The sandwiches are excellent, on a variety of fresh breads with awesome meats and cheeses. The homemade accoutrements are gourmet and delightful - the pesto mayo and sun dried tomatoes are two of my favorites, and the homemade Italian dressing is awesome. Build your own sandwich to order or choose from one of about 40 handcrafted combinations.

And don't forget dessert - homemade cookies and cannoli.

Seriously - when it comes to deli sandwiches, Folgarelli's is king. A can't miss option in beautiful...

For starters, upon entering this establishment, the aroma is absolutely enchanting. I have never entered a place that smelled so good and so fresh.

Secondly, the older gentleman, who I'll assume is either the owner (or a manager), was very sweet. He is clearly a people person and appeared to know everyone in the community. Everytime someone walked through the door, he would greet them with a smile and by name, and having a place such as this in a community like this brings people together- it was really nice to see.

He gave my sisters and I a little backstory on this place, seeing as we are from Detroit and had never been here before, it was only fitting.

Lastly, but certainly not least, the food is amazing. I had the God Father sandwich, and I have NEVER had a sandwich so good in my life. My sisters agreed with me. I tried the sandwiches my sisters ordered, and it was hard to tell which I liked best.

Simply put: this is an incredible place to get incredible sandwiches from. Thank you so much for having us, Folgarelli's; I will definitely return the next time I visit...

Somewhere between a bubbling cauldron of comfort and a Michelin-star miracle… lies Janelle's lasagna soup.

Let me tell you—this isn’t just soup. This is the liquid reincarnation of Garfield’s wildest dreams. You take one spoonful, and it’s like a cheesy baptism. The noodles are floating around like soft, carb-laden angels. The sauce? It’s got the swagger of an Italian grandma who doesn’t measure anything but still makes you cry with joy.

You get that hit of tomato—bold, confident, not shy like canned stuff. The ricotta melts in your mouth like a love letter from the dairy gods. And somewhere in there, you swear you hear Andrea Bocelli hitting a high note.

If soup could flirt, this one’s a full-blown Italian lover whispering sweet nothings in marinara. It’s cozy, it’s sinful, it’s like your Nonna’s kitchen and a five-star bistro had a baby—and that baby just won “Chopped.”
