low bar was recommended as a date night, chill spot by a local friend. it was great! they’ve got an impressive & huge whiskey collection (my partner is a whiskey aficionado) & i had a glass of wine & a soda water. they offer full pours or half pours of spirits. if i hadn’t been planning to be designated driver later that night, i would’ve definitely had an espresso martini or a cocktail. oh, and they have NA liquors that are reasonably priced. the vibe is slow, calm, & quiet. it’s romantic & hidden away - would be a lovely spot to tuck away in the winter for a drink or two with friends or colleagues or someone special. I’m not sure if the elevator goes down to the lower level, where the bar is, but we took a flight of stairs down. the restrooms are gendered but are both single-use & tucked in the back by the exit. it is located in an area with the a lot of other bars & restaurants & shops nearby. staff were attentive & knowledgable. music was good & at a good volume that we could still hear each other & could also hear the music.

This bar has a nice atmosphere and unique cocktails. The service was also good. They also have an extensive whiskey list. We were there after dinner midweek in October and were able to sit immediately. People were coming and going while we there, and there wasn't much of a line at any point. I'm sure they are much busier during the summer and on the weekends, but a wait would still be worth it if you're looking for cocktails in Traverse City. This would be a good place to meet up with friends for a drink and to catch up. The tables were full from time to time, but it was never too loud and the seating is good for conversation. I gave it 4 stars out of 5 because all of the drinks were a little sweet to me, including some of their signature drinks and some classics we ordered. Maybe the bartender was just going heavy on the simple syrup that night. But knowing that, I'd adjust my orders going back.

Low Bar is a very cool place for a late night drink! Ambiance is great, it has that dark speakeasy sort of vibe. It can be a bit loud when it's busy but not horrible. Very nice unique cocktail selection. The Boss is awesome, the smoked decanter is a nice touch. We also tried The Krampus Old Fashioned which was a great twist on a traditional. The service was a bit slow, it took awhile to get served and get the bill, even though we mentioned we were having one drink and wanted the bill when the drinks came out. The server forgot our request. All things considered though Low Bar is worth the visit.

Low Bar has a great "Speak Easy" vibe. You come down an elevator into a dark hallway lined with bench seating and small tables. The hallway opens up into a bigger, but still dark seating area with the bar.

The bar itself has and enormous selection of Scotch, Bourbons and Whiskeys, as well as a number of Tequilas and Mezcals. They also serve wine, but to be honest, I wasn't paying attention to their wine list.

To the left of the bar is a cool sitting area with some comfy chairs and bookshelves.

The staff was great and very friendly. She explained the "No shake weight jokes" rule... apparently people make the joke as though no one has ever thought of it before.

The whiskey selection was great, and they ranged from 9 to 30 a glass. If you're not sure what to get, ask the Bartenders, they've...
