Boba Chai — Restaurant in Troy

The first time we tried to order the place was open but unattended. The second time we walked by we saw people inside, so we stopped in. I ordered a Chai Boba. The staffer asked if I wanted any toppings. Assuming this meant syrups or something, because the item I ordered has "boba" in the name, which (crazy, I know) made me think it already had boba in it, I said no. When my drink came out it had no boba. I went back to ask. The staffer said these were a topping. I asked if I could add them. She said the boba were still cooking and there'd be a wait. (Maybe if they hadn't left the shop unattended they would have been ready?)

To be clear, I do not blame the staffer for the confusion. I am sure this is a policy she was trained on. I suspect the store does this so they can list one price on the sign and then charge you another when you say yes, I would like boba. This is a shitty business practice. If the drink is called a "_ BOBA" the price should include boba.

Also it's unhinged to call something a topping when it sits on the bottom of the drink....

Not my favorite. Trust me, I make it my mission to try bubble tea from everywhere and across the US. This spot didn't pass the taste test. Boba was fine but the flavor and milk tasted stale. The syrup had an aftertaste. We couldn't even finish the rest. $5.99 for a regular is the usual price for bubble teas these days. They had an okay selection of flavors, we kept it simple and glad we did. The vibe inside is nice, the walls are fun and photo worthy but the place is so dark that you can barely see menu plus with the font being so small. I'd recommend making the font on the ordering menu bigger, goodness! They have other snacks as well but none looked great to me. Seating is minimal. I'm giving two stars because of the decor and...

The place was cute but absolutely disgusting!! The floor was nasty, tables and chairs were nasty, covered in food. The girl serving the dubi chocolate was just scrolling on her phone. She should have been clean as there was no where clean to even sit. I was scared to even touch anything. 2 parties that came after me they served before me! Tried to blame it on the customer when they were to lazy to even serve the customers or clean. So extremely dirty place, lazy employees. Doesnt taste right either. Ive had authentic living in Hawaii and thus isnt even close....
