A previous reviewer wrote that Coffee Bar's latte was the best they ever had. I hope that's true in more than a "Starbucks is my standard for espresso"-kind of way, but based on my experience with the house coffee, I doubt it.
I'll put it this way: the same day I went to Coffee Bar I'd made instant coffee on a camp stove behind a rest area outside of Truckee. The vague taste of clay and cement notwithstanding, the camp stove coffee was ambrosia compared with the thin, burnt mess I purchased hours later at Coffee Bar.
Okay, I'm being a bit of a jerk here. The service was good—quick, pleasant, professional. The pastry (something with Nutella?) was fine. The bathroom was clean. Motocross was playing on the TV, distracting but interesting (who watches motocross in the Bay Area?). And based on other reviews, it sounds like the espresso would've been swell.
But if you just want a good cup of coffee and a chill vibe, walk a few blocks over to Dark Horse Roasters. It's just better.
P.S.: If you're coming from the Bay Area, you can imagine Coffee Bar as a kind of faux-local Starbucks; Dark Horse would be more like...
Read moreWe spent $70 on a Wednesday morning on drinks and food including an avocado toast since they were "not doing" paninis or burritos at the moment, basically half of the food menu. On the toast, a large chunk (half of the amount) of the avocado on the toast was unripe and inedible, like a rock in the middle of the toast. My son ate everything around it that was edible on the plate as to not waste anything and then informed me. When I took it to the staff, they did not offer any remedy. Instead they rudely said "I thought you were just showing me. You ate the whole piece of bread."
This was 10 days ago at the Truckee Jibboom location. I DM'd them directly, twice, and received no response. We're huge fans of Coffeebar and even recently downloaded the app. This is our first time at this location but we're regulars at the MP and RWC locations and have never had any problems.
In addition, the service was slow and portions were...

This is a review specifically of the veggie burrito.
My favorite menu item used to be the veggie burrito, it was delicious and innovative, a refreshing take on a menu item that can often fall short for vegetarians because it tends to be so unimaginative. I have at times come to Coffeebar specifically for the burrito and not coffee. Over the last year or so the burrito has gotten smaller and the filling has changed and it's just not as good. The last couple of times I've ordered it I've been disappointed, the flavor wasn't as complex (possibly a/n ingredient/s from the filling has been removed/changed?) and the black beans were under cooked. It also used to come with a bit of a side salad/vegetable, it was always small but it's basically non-existent now. It's no...
