I ordered four venti drinks, all of which turned out to be completely unsweetened. After trying them, we realized they needed more cane sugar syrup. My sister walked up to the counter to politely ask for sweetener. Despite standing there for over two minutes, the three employees behind the bar just stared at her, ignored her, and then openly mocked her. One said, “You gonna handle that?” and another laughed and replied, “Lol, no.” While the continued giggling.
Not to mention, the way my sister was treated could easily be interpreted as blatant discrimination, particularly given that she is queer. She returned to me visibly shaken and upset, saying they refused to acknowledge her at all—despite her standing directly in front of them, clearly trying to get their attention.
I then went up and asked for sweetener myself, and while they finally handed me a tiny amount, their attitude was incredibly dismissive. My mom later went to the register to ask for more and even offered to pay for it, which we were more than willing to do. A female barista started to fill a cup for her, only for a male barista to lean over, whisper something in her ear, and then she dumped the entire cup down the sink—right in front of us—leaving just a tiny bit behind. When my mom asked why she did that, she smugly said, “You need to pay for it,” despite the fact that we had already offered to do so. And she just WASTED your product!
At this point, I asked for the manager—who turned out to be one of the same employees who was laughing and ignoring us earlier. She was unhelpful, repeatedly asking what we needed as we clearly explained the situation multiple times. Eventually, she gave us a small amount of syrup and refused payment, but by then, the entire experience had already been ruined.
Instead of showing any professionalism, empathy, or accountability, the manager mirrored the same childish and dismissive behavior as her staff. Given her role, I expected leadership and maturity—but what we experienced was quite the opposite. It was disappointing and honestly shocking to see that kind of behavior from someone in a managerial position.
This level of unprofessionalism, rudeness, and outright disrespect is unacceptable. Watching staff mock customers, deliberately ignore them, and waste company product out of spite is beyond inappropriate. I will absolutely never return to this...
Read moreThis is my favorite Starbucks because it use to be a burger king and when I was a kid our school bus would actually take us here for some unexplained reason, this sealing a love for the King and his burgers. Fast forward a decade and there I was as a young adult and it had become a cheesesteak shop, the sandwiches were delicious but the big secret was the amazing Mexican food the nice older gals in back would wip up if you knew how to ask, yet it went out of business, dark times indeed.
Skip forward another few years and this guy Bill who while super nice was clearly on some sorta drugs you would buy at a party in sun valley stole the menu from T's Rotisserie in a incline village. This was hilarious to me because the recipies were actually from the family of a man named Sergio whom Bill was also able to steal from T's. I dont know this T person but they were probably upset at this whole situation. Anyway they gave away free food their first day open and I ate 8 burritos. Swear to God, EIGHT over a 10 hour period. We had been lifted from the dark times of no great food next to the mousehole. After what seems like 5 years those party drugs seemed to have done their job and the thousand yard stares from the Bill's Rotisserie senior employees had gotten too consistent. Their talented chef left and opened Golden Rotisserie a few blocks away and sealed this weird buildings fate to be empty again. It was empty and grossly neglected looking for a while. Picture homeless meth heads and bears staying away. Imagine how that feels to see a childhood friend who became a lifelong presence existing like this.
Finally, Starbucks, came to the rescue and remodeled this place into what's now a rather nice location. I was able to convince a girl to move here from another state for this location and my dog so you will have a hard time convincing me it's not the best, highest rated Starbucks in the world, actually. Halle is my favorite barista, she makes the chocolate milk with half coconut milk and it will blow your mind.
A lot of cops hang out here, I dont have a problem with this but you might, man.
Fyi, I dont even like Starbucks or coffee in general so I would imagine if you got this far into my review and are into coffee you will be well served...
Read moreI've had good experiences with a couple of people at this location, but one of their employees (named Chris) should be giving a Master Class in customer service.
Sometimes a single person can color your attitude for the entire day. Usually it's because they are such an inconsiderate a-hole. That's definitely not the case at this Starbucks (the one across from Save Mart, in Truckee). Chris has a way of connecting with customers such that you go to this Starbucks to interact with him as much as to buy coffee and breakfast sandwiches. He's hilarious when taking your order in the drive-thru and really makes it a fun experience.
There's not a lot to look forward to at 6:00 in the morning...on your 40 mile commute to work...when it 6 degrees outside... but Chris makes it a surprisingly fun experience that sets the tone for your day!
I know lots of reviews have focused on irregular hours for this store. Because of labor issues, that problem is common to ALL businesses right now. I try to be understanding because the people who are actually coming to work are the ones getting bad reviews and bad attitudes from customers. THEY are the ones coming in at 5:00am and working long hours to make up for the extra workload.
Love this place, and Chris's awesome attitude and sense of humor are good part of...
