This was our first time here. My wife and I, along with another couple, had a wonderful meal at Brix Tavern - Tualatin. We went early to avoid the crowd (4pm Friday), and it was a good thing we did. It really started filling up around 5:30, as one might expect. It is industrial in appearance with a concrete floor and wide open - no booths or separation which tends to allow for a lot of chatter noise. They have a happy hour 3-6pm everyday plus Tues-Sat 9pm to close and Sun & Mon 3pm to close. Everyone in our party chose to dine off of the happy hour menu as the selections were many and lots of them looked like they would be good. 3 from my party chose the happy hour cheeseburger. It is a good size burger with smoked cheddar (liquid) cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion & aioli. It is a messy burger which to me is normally a sign of a good burger, but I think it was mostly the cheese which caused this to be a slippery mess. Next time - cheese sauce on the side! Very good tasting burger - tasted like good beef was used and you could taste that it was cooked on a grill, not a flat top. Everyone commented on what a great tasting burger it was and a great happy hour value at just $9.50. An order of fries or tots added is $3 extra. The fries were fried perfectly and had a nice crunch & flavor. I chose the pork sliders which were $7.50 and the Brix Tachos for $7.50. The sliders were quite good with pork, bbq sauce, pickled onions and slaw. 2 came in the order. The tachos are tater tots covered with the same smoked cheddar cheese sauce, bacon, sour cream and I got the salsa & jalapeños on the side. The tots needed to be more plentiful and definitely crispier, especially to stand up to the toppings. It was a disappointment for an extra $4.50 over plain tots.. Next time I will get regular $3 tots and ask for them crispy. Service was okay, not great though the server was friendly enough, but when it got busier, she was not very attentive. All in all, it was a really nice meal and we plan to go back to check out...
Read moreBrix Tavern Tualatin has such a chill, inviting, and fun vibe. From the comfortable, stylish furniture to the thoughtful table and lounge layout, it’s the kind of place where you can relax whether you’re here for a lunch meeting, dinner with friends, or just drinks.
Food: The food is consistently delicious, beautifully plated, and always fresh. I’ve been here many times — for both business meetings and casual hangouts — and have never had a bad dish. The menu changes seasonally, which I appreciate because it means fresh, quality ingredients (even though I still miss some favorites when they rotate off). One dish I wish they’d bring back is their incredible polenta plate with an amazing demi-glace — so good I had to ask for extra sauce on the side!
Some of my must-try favorites:
Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly paired with its sauce.
Coconut Prawns – cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor.
Salt & Pepper Calamari – light, crispy, and seasoned just right.
Bacon Wedge Salad – crisp butter leaf lettuce with the perfect amount of toppings.
Surf & Turf – marinated flat iron steak that’s juicy and flavorful, paired with shrimp with a little spicy kick, and tasty mashed potatoes.
Burgers – good and fresh, though not the star of the menu.
Pizzas – flavorful, great to share, and fresh every time.
Desserts: Vanilla cheesecake is a must-try, and the chocolate lava cake is a dream for chocolate lovers. The crème brûlée is okay — good, but not as memorable as other desserts here.
Service: Always on point. Friendly, attentive servers who keep drinks full without asking, and a warm greeting at the door every time.
Drinks: Great drink menu with photo-worthy presentation. Perfect for pairing with apps or enjoying during happy hour.
Bottom Line: If you want delicious food, a great setting, and attentive service without breaking the bank, Brix Tavern Tualatin is a solid choice. Whether for a casual hangout or a work lunch, the atmosphere, food, and service...
Read moreI'm giving Brix Tavern five stars because our first experience tonight was, for the most part, a wonderful meal (with a few suggestions at the end). First of all, the way they've renovated the former Hayden's space is bright, open, and modern. Comfy lounge areas, a large open bar area, and great lighting.
The happy hour menu is extensive and well-priced for the size of the portions. Entrees were around $9-$12 and cocktails are $9. One entree each was plenty. Three of us had the happy hour cheeseburger, which was yummy with caramelized onions, veggies, and aioli. One of us had the grilled cheese with tomato soup, also good. The only one not-so-good were the pork tacos, which came out cold. I've seen others complain about this in the reviews so I'm not sure why this would be a continuing issue.
Now for the other suggestions for improvement. Our family of five made a reservation nearly a week in advance, and yet were seated at a crowded 4-top table with a fifth chair shoved at the end. The table was too small and our knees were knocking under the table.
While the decor is a huge step up from dated look of Hayden's, the white walls are a bit stark and warehousey.
The bar area has multiple TVs. All were showing men and women's boxing with lots of blood. No one in the bar or restaurant appeared to actually be watching, and yet my husband's request to change it (so our younger kids wouldn't watch it) was ignored.
Finally, our server was lovely but she didn't know what kids' drinks were available when we asked. She went and found out and all was well, but her ignorance was odd given there is a kids' menu and there were many families with young kids in the restaurant.
All of these comments are minor details. Overall our dinner was lovely and we are so glad to have Brix in Tualatin. Since others have commented on most of these details it seems important for the restaurant to fix them to make it an even better place to eat! Definitely recommend...
