Really amazing overall review, really lame last five minutes! Everyone is so fun and social and sweet, food is really tasty bar food, the dance lesson was SO fun (amazing date spot), and all the bartenders were killing it, except one. I’d almost leave four stars just because of the interaction with her but I think everything was so great over all that one bad experience really couldn’t spoil it.
I think her name was Stephanie or Tiffany? Working night shift Thursday March 8th. I was waiting at the bar to close out and no one was approaching me, everyone was obviously crazy busy so I wasn’t in a rush but maybe 8-10 minutes go by with me raising my hand as they walk by. Nothing crazy, but In that time the guy next to me and another guy three away from me order from her so I know I’m not in the wrong spot or something (but if I was she could’ve told me). Finally she’s at the POS directly in front of me and I say “no rush but next time you have a sec could we get the check?” And she ignores me. I think she didn’t hear me so I say “sorry can you hear me?” She doesn’t look at me and goes “I can hear you fine I’m just not going to serve you here” so I said “I’m sorry I just want to check out am I in the wrong spot?” And she tells me “Im just not going to help you just have to wait for her”. Idk who she’s talking about because she’s clearly serving the area and we’ve ordered drinks from multiple bartenders on our tab in that spot. I’m feeling really shocked and uncomfortable and the guys next to me were super surprised to, the girl on my other side was waiting to order and she rolled her eyes and left when that happened. I walked around the other side of the bar and was helped in seconds, bartender was so sweet and got us out quickly.
It was busy and this bartender is very rude to customers under pressure. I’ve never been here and had never interacted with her and I feel like she was angry with me for something but no one around knew what. I get that annoying customers messing stuff up can get frustrating but I really couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong or what I could’ve done better and she was more focused on being mean than getting people to understand what she needed to do her job and it wasn’t doing her any favors lol.

Read moreIf you want to just drink and hang out I'm sure it's a great experience so I gave it a 3 star. 5 stars for cleanliness but overall I was not at all impressed with the facilities dance program. Im 32 and have country line danced since I was 16. I have taught programs for church events and camps. I was excited to find a place when moving to Oregon from the midwest. The dances (even for an experienced dancer who has been to clubs in the Midwest and texas) were very difficult. The moves were typical moves, but the sequences were difficult. I counted one night and Some of the songs only repeated sequence 4 times. It was impressive to watch but I wasn't able to actually get out on the floor which is all I care about. There were the same 5 people on the floor the entire night as they were the only ones who could do the sequences the rest partner danced around the outside. Their classes only cover 1 line dance the entire lesson. Other programs I have been apart of will typically cover 4+ line danced in a 1-2 hour class. This way you are at least exposed to multiple dances and can continue to learn as the dj plays the song later. I have been to some clubs that will have the instructors out on the floor the entire night too so you can always know who to follow based off their t-shirts. When speaking to some younger 20ish year olds and asking how they learn the dances they replied with "we studied for hours by looking up all of the songs and watching YouTube". Again, I prefer a saloon that I can learn and enjoy the experience...
Read moreIf you come here expecting anything more than a local Country Bar & Grill, that offers good bar food, drinks, a kick ass dance floor, FREE lessons and a typical conservative crowd, you’ll be shocked and disappointed.
This isn’t the place for fancy cocktails and world class customer service. This place doesn’t compare to your funky, downtown Portland dive bars. This isn’t the place to go if you find yourself to be very sensitive or picky. This is the place where you buck up, and throw your expectations out the window.
I’ve never had a problem here, but I never expected much. Sometimes you get a bartender who’s having a tough night or doesn’t smile but so what. Are you there to make friends with the bartender or order a drink. If you are shocked that it’s busy and you get passed up, don’t sit there quietly with expectations and a pissy face. Handle the situation, get a little louder, make yourself noticed and order a drink.
This place can be amazing if you don’t need somebody holding your hand and can throw yourself into situations without acting like a victim. Too many people today expect to be catered to in ways that just don’t fit local bars like this. If you’re high maintenance, you won’t like it. If you’re down to earth, you won’t have any problems and you’ll most likely end up coming here every weekend.
If this review offended you or you read it thinking it came off rudely, you won’t like this place. That’s my point. Saving you the trouble.
