I don't write reviews normally, but this place deserves it.
I've lived in Portland for 20+ years and never in all my time in and around this city have I eaten at a restaurant as fantastic as Mama's. You wouldn't know it when you enter, what with the bland and unassuming decor, but the food is varied and fantastic. As far as I'm concerned, whatever goes on in the kitchen is nothing short of wizardry. Furthermore, despite the absurdly large menu, there is nothing I've tried that isn't amazing. Seriously. I could go on and on talking about how consistent and excellent the food is here. You could throw a dart at their sprawling wall of food choices and land on something that would keep you coming back, every time.

Her gyoza was… okay. It was like potstickers that were air fried.
My katsu looked great on the surface, and I was very happy with the portion - however one bite in and it tasted so bland - not a drop of seasoning on the thing. The chicken felt like it was thawed twice, unfortunately very rubbery. The soba was all stuck together in a hard clump, but at least it had some pepper on it.
Maybe subtract from the menu, and only offer things you guys know you can do well. Based on the reviews I thought this was going to be great, but this was a hard miss for us. When it comes to these items, mama needs to stay out of...
Read moreThis is a hidden away 💎 Gem if you like Japanese food! It is efficient with self order kiosks and service is fast! I ordered the Vegetable Yakisoba with extra vegetables on 2 different occasions. (Well worth the extra $3!) Teriyaki sauce is provided and set's off the flavors! They serve all sorts of food like Teryaki chicken, Fried rice and Ramen! Tbh - if I still ate meat, I would order the Teriyaki chicken!
The food has been consistent with each visit and they don't skimp on the portions! The owner stated " We like to have you walk out FULL AND HAPPY!" This is my New favorite spot to grab some 🍜 noodles and I hope it will...
