There were two of us dining. We wanted to order from the menu with the added rice included. Somehow we received another $15.95 dish and not the additional rice that comes with the meal. Stir fried rice is $1.00 more. The stir fried rice came as shrimp fried rice. The meal that came with any type of rice didn't come with the plate of orange chicken. I knew my bill for lunch would be now over $45.00 plus tip. The more I tried to let it go, it bothered me even more. I asked the waitress to explain. She told us we ordered it. She said that she asked three times. Both of us don't remember anything aboit shrimp. All we wanted was regular fried rice as an option that added a dollar more to the bill written on the menu above the dish choices. I asked for a manager and she said, "no, he is not in." I really felt she was trying to get more money for the meal and she would get a bigger tip. I want to say this is a good place to eat, the service was good, but the communication from the waitress was hard to understand. I think this would have been corrected when ordering. She can point or say the price compared to just adding another dollar. We only drank water to save money. She did offer to take it back and correct it as I was paying, but it was her attitude wasn't being helpful in the beginning when I first asked. She sounded defensive. As I left. I was able to pay my bill for the both of us. If you go there. Really point to what you are ordering. Don't allow the waitress or anyone else serving you to put words in your mouth and then the order is more than I can afford or what I thought was what I was to pay. I won't give another chance to Royal Panda. I went there the 1st time 10 years ago. The food was okay, but not great like it was just yesterday. I paid for our meals and tipped .20,% to still show and accept that this is an easy mistake and a lack of understanding with her strong accent, and I am half to blame. I still feel that she gets away with doing this before. This is why I am writing this...
Read moreFirstly, I would like to state that the following is one person's experience the the Tigard Royal Panda and should not be interpreted as an all-encompassing reflection of the business in question.
This review is not so much about Royal Panda's quality of product or service they provide, but on a particular business practice. The practice in question is the contract with Parking Compliance Enforcement Portland Oregon. The Tigard Royal does have multiple signs clearly stating the rules regarding parking in their allotted parking area. A good practice from a business stand point as customers of the business should have convenient parking and their experience with the business be overall better because of it. More simply, if one can make their customers happy, then they will be more likely to come back. This practice is beneficial for paying customers of the business, yet may come off as off-putting for potential customers. Essentially in the case of potential customers, whom have received a Non Compliance Notice for infringing on the stated rules. One of the most common is the "No Customer" violation which includes a "Non Compliance Fee" of $75 dollars. This violation is given (in my case) when a vehicle is parked in stated enforced area and does not purchase from the Tigard Royal Panda. I acknowledge the faults of my actions and by the time this review is posted, will have payed the "Non Compliance Fee". Contracting with the Parking Compliance Enforcement is indeed legal, yet as a potential customer the practice discourages me from attending their establishment or recommend eating there to my friends and family. In summary, I do not mean to curse the name of Tigard Royal Panda or attempt to justify myself, but reflect on this practice as a potential customer. I would like to make it clear that the people at Tigard Royal Panda and the Portland Non Compliance Enforcement had given me not bad or unpleasant customer service to warrant the...
Read moreI used to visit this place years ago when it was called something else (Lucky something..) and the food was outstanding. So good that my dad and I looked forward to it. Clearly ownership has changed hands since then but while the place looks exactly the same and the service is still pretty good - the food has gotten so lazy and cheaply made that the sauce tastes like it's all the cheapest canned versions of whatever they thought would pass for that dish. And I mean bad like somebody went to WinCo and got a flat of powdered or canned sauce and then didn't bother to even try to dress it up, much less taste for seasoning before serving.
And I gave the food two stars instead of one because when I got mine, it was nice and hot, so at least someone put some effort into selling the bad food hot I guess.
I really hope someone in charge there will take notice and make efforts to bring a standard to their food again. It's in an amazing location for business but no wonder it was a complete and silent ghost town when I visited recently. It felt like being in detention with abject silence to where the only other party in the place was a couple who clearly felt as awkward as I did and stopped speaking to each other except for muttering like a couple of kids on a sleepover trying not to get caught staying up too late chatting. Except not nearly as fun and definitely could hear each other chewing instead.
This place has all they need to thrive and they're choosing to cut corners on the main product to let it fall to such a level? We're not in the shutdown anymore, guys. There are ways to be cost effective and not serve garbage to keep it cheap.
Whittle down the menu a bit perhaps to the big favorites, cross utilize ingredients, and stop using horrible canned sauces to start please.
I really would love to see this place resurrect the food it once had and come back to life as a...
