This was my second time coming here for some Viet food. We came in the middle of the afternoon and it was quiet. The place was clean and has minimal modern decor. My favorite part of the restaurant is the wide variety of food items to try. The food is also very reasonable price and the place does not skimp out on quality and quantity. Most viet places have pho as their main dish but we especially loved the C1 grilled barbecue pork and M1 Vietnamese beef stew. My mom loves to make the wraps in C1, and for $14, it was very worth it. I got the P3; the broth was strong and flavorful. I think the flank steak and brisket were chewier than usual, so maybe they were cooked for too long and then added to the pho bowl. I was a bit disappointed with M10 because the broth was not as flavorful as I hoped. It was a clean, colorless broth, but even those can still have a good flavor profile. It also just came with shrimp, fish balls, and pork— which I think is a bit basic. Surprisingly, I quite liked M1 Vietnamese beef stew because the soup was strong and thick and the beef chunks were nice, soft, and unexpectedly big. Still, the meat tore away very easily, and the dish was not spicy at all (maybe just a little bit oily).
There is a huge parking lot for this restaurant, and the road leading to the restaurant is wide. The ambiance was quiet and dim when we came in. There were no lights on except the blinding lighting from outside. I’m not a fan of places that use really dim lighting because it’s hard to see and doesn’t create a warm restaurant environment. The environment was clean and decorated in a minimal modern way. Most decor was plants and nice lights that hung from the ceiling.
I have mixed opinions on the customer service. We were greeted quickly and he sat us at a booth. My only issue with the booth was that is was sopping wet and wasn’t dried at all, not even a weak attempt to dry it. The food service itself was fast, and I felt like the two staff members were rushing when taking our orders and distributing utensils and food. Perhaps we just came at a bad time and they were in the middle of dinner prep.
I’d probably come back again for some...
Read moreI went here to eat with my stepdad mom and dad. It took 10 minutes just for the waitress to come over to give us water. A Saturday and the owner only has one person working as a waitress. Last time we went 2 or 3 months ago we had a much better waiter. He was very friendly and helpful and really outgoing. We ordered P3 both of us last time and it was really good and there was lots of meat. My Mom and stepdad ordered barbecue pork they said it was good but it was a really small portion. We got crispy spring rolls with peanut sauce. They were really good but they were four bucks just for two of them. This time we both ordered P3 and it came with lots of tendon fat in one of them. It's supposed to be well done flank and eye of round steak. We only got five or six small pieces of eye of round steak which is chintzy. The pho broth and noodles are really good Just not enough meat .She claimed that flank steak is really fatty and that's why we got it. But flank steak is a really lean cut of meat. My uncle was a meat market manager and a butcher and he even told us flank steak is lean We explained that to the waitress and the owner and they both would not agree with us and didn't offer us a discount or any type of credit or apology. The owner was more busy talking to somebody else than trying to help us. Not a good way to run a business. There are too many other good Vietnamese restaurants and we won't be back here anymore. We've never gotten fatty meat at Vietnam...
Read moreWe've eaten here numerous times in the past three years with no problems, good food and service. However, tonight was a terrible experience and we're not sure we want to return. We entered the restaurant at 6:30 on a Friday night. There were a good number of empty tables. About 40 minutes after we arrived, we still did not have our dinners, and our waitress had approached us only to bring our peanut sauce and rice paper/hot water for our grilled dinners about 20 minutes before. We flagged her down and at our request, went to get the manager. The manager was not concerned, telling us that she had a small grill and was serving a large party who also wanted grilled dinners, implying that large parties were more important than a party of two She said it would be another two or three minutes. Seven minutes later we finally got our food, which was quite good, but after waiting that long the dinner was not enjoyable. I told the waitress that if a certain order would be a while, inform the customer, maybe offer an appetizer. To add to the unpleasantness, two other separate family tables had screaming children running around their tables, making the atmosphere like a zoo. This was a horrible "dining" experience and Tay Ho will no longer be my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. By the way, we did pay full price for our food, in case one might have thought that some compensation for the poor management/service might have been fair. Two stars only because the...
