Awful, baffling experience here this weekend. Went in on Saturday looking to buy just a bed/mattress set, while there I found an entire bedroom set that I fell in love with and decided I wanted to go ahead and get the whole thing. A very nice delivery person happened to walk into the showroom and asked if we were being helped or if he could help us out with any questions. I said I was interested in finding out more about the set and he said we would grab a salesperson since he actually wasn't totally sure, but he wanted to make sure we weren't feeling ignored since there weren't sales people nearby to help if we needed anything which I thought was really great of him. Unfortunately the salesman he grabbed was awful. He said a few times that he was a "bad salesman", I thought he was kidding but I guess I should have believed him. I asked my questions about the set, mostly pricing because the labels were wrong, and let him know I was also interested in buying a mattress, he simply pointed us in that direction and followed us but offered no assistance or recommendations and seemed totally disinterested in moving the sale forward (not once did he try to close on the sale or start discussing payment options/delivery timelines, anything at all, he just gave me the pricing and left it at that despite me making it very clear I was looking to make a purchase). At one point while I decided on a mattress my mother was looking around in the clearance section, which is located in the same "room" of the store and asked him about a table in that area that wasn't marked. He simply said it wasn't marked yet (clearly), but offered no assistance in finding a price. She said she'd really like to know the price on it and it just kind of stood there, laughed at her, and offered no help. Read moreI came into Schewel's without the expectation of making a purchase but instead just to peruse through what was on clearance as I'm moving into a new apartment in August. I was kindly greeted at the door by the salesperson on the floor, Mae, who led me and my mother over to look at some bedroom furniture sets and matress/box spring sets that really fit our needs. From there Mae was very good at asking questions and helping to guide me in the right direction for finding the best furniture for my situation while on a budget. During my time with Mae she introduced me to Gary, the store manager, who also was great about showing me all of the best deals on nice furniture and giving me a wide range of options to choose from that were still fairly priced, even though I am a college student and not necessarily the highest earner who comes through their doors. I genuinely appreciated the kind and dutiful service that was provided to me, no matter the circumstance or dollar amount I was spending, and cannot think of another furniture store comparable in the overall combination of price, quality, and customer service than Schewels on Broad and I will be sure not to take my business elsewhere as long as I am in the Richmond area. Thank you so much to Mae, Justin, and Gary for all of your help to my mother and I, allowing us to walk out with a mattress, box spring, coffee table, and reclining sofa all for a great price. Read moreI wish I could have given them NEGATIVE STARS! This business is a ripoff who doesn't stand behind their product nor their WARRANTY!!! They use third party repair companies, who came by my place to repair my couch after it had torn. They didn't fix the tear (I mean come on now, how hard is it to stitch something up) and then multiple times after the two initial visits from two separate third party repair companies, now they don't even show up when the appointments are scheduled.
I finally had to get the BBB involved. Outrageous response!!! They told the BBB that they were "Going through New Management" and because of the transition that had absolutely nothing to do with me, they said they couldn't honor my warranty now since it was outside of the warranty period time... What?!?!? You sent third party repair companies out to my home twice, who couldn't fix the issue. You then were going through new management which was why I couldn't get repair people here when appointments were scheduled. And now you are telling me "sorry, we can't help you" because my sofa is no longer under warranty because your business was a complete mess, which has nothing to do with my problem... WHAT A JOKE!!!! BEWARE!!! DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM THESE PEOPLE.. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT OR THEIR...
