A Happy Hour to Make You Happy This was our first visit to the BJ's on Broadway. We visited the Denver, CO location a few months ago and it was also great. We stopped in primarily for Happy Hour so that's what I'll review. The weekday Happy Hour runs from 3-7 and Sunday to Thursday 9 pm to Close. Good HH pricing on anything from the bar. Enjoy some tasty appetizers priced at 1/2 off during HH. Ask your server which are included as there are more than their website lists. I led my beer adventure off with a BJ's Porter. A nitro pour, rich and smooth, a nice chocolaty flavor. I followed that with a Tatonka Stout. This is an imperial style at 8.5% ABV with a complex flavor and a smooth sipper. I then had a Jeremiah Red. This is an Irish style ale at 7.3% ABV with a fruity aroma, not too hoppy which lets the malt flavor come through. As we were in Arizona, I had to end my trip with the Prickly Pear Honey Wheat seasonal. Well balanced between bitter, sweet and tart. Nice citrus aroma and flavor with the prickly pear adding some uniqueness. A perfect ending on a warm late afternoon. My wife chooses to indulge in her favorite diet cola with a lemon wedge and luckily, that creates a designated driver for me. We are calamari fans and their Crispy Calamari was a winner. Flash fried with probably the thinnest seasoned coating we've ever seen, served with marinara and a delicious roasted garlic aioli dipping sauces. We also indulged in the Avocado Egg Rolls, served with a sweet tamarind dipping sauce. The avocado, cheese and assorted other veggie mixture was encased in a crispy, lightly fried wrapper delivering a warm, smooth, guacamole like flavor. Dipping into the tamarind sauce made it even better. What a great treat! We sat out on the patio which is on the parking lot side away from busy Broadway and Craycroft roads. It was nice to see gas heaters above each table on the patio to make cool weather visits more enjoyable. Our server, Hannah, was the best! Super friendly, attentive, helpful when discussing appetizers and made us feel very welcomed and appreciated. We hope to see her again. When we visited the Denver location, we had the flatbread pizzas and they were super. You can't go wrong at BJ's.

Always an easy go to when you are out and about! My husband and I were out doing a little shopping yesterday and as we were preparing to head back to the east side of town, we knew we needed to have some lunch. As the day was not over yet, with the various places we needed and wanted to shop, we decided on BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse on Broadway and Craycroft. We have been to this location several times and each time the experience has been wonderful! The choices are many for both food and beverage. To be honest, we have never had a bad meal. The wait staff, no matter how busy, never forgets their customers. It is a teamwork atmosphere from what my husband and I have noticed. Whatever it is, it works! Browsing and choosing an entree, may take some time but it is well worth it. My husband and I made our choices. He chose the Nachos with chicken added and I chose the Brisket Bacon Burger. Since it was after twelve, we had a drink....not that being before twelve has stopped us. The nachos were filling and tasted awesome and the burger was delicious! 5 STARS all the way. Raquel, our waitress was OUTSTANDING! She made sure we had everything we needed. When we requested more salsa for the nachos, she brought us a good amount. The first amount was not nearly enough for the dish size. Thank you, Raquel!! For us BJ's is an easy fall back option when we can't make a choice of where to eat. Wether it's a date night for us or a stop in for a few appetizers for lunch BJ's is always a good choice! We belong to their special rewards program...its pretty cool. You earn a few points on your visits, you can pay on your phone, and you get priority seating. Yesterday, on our visit, Raquel informed us that we had a $10 credit. Bank it or use it....not too bad. If you haven't, stop in for a few appetizers and beverage, you'll enjoy the selections and if you are a beer drinker, there are plenty of options...you can even sample beer you make your choice. After all it is a Brewhouse.

I recently had an indulgent visit to BJ’s Restaurant on Broadway and Craycroft. For our family of 6, we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table at around 6:30pm on a Friday night. I started with one of their signature drinks called the "Unlucky Ducky" (yummy), served in a mini bathtub—complete with a little rubber ducky, which was a neat touch. I tried a bit of everything-New England clam chowder (yummy, but did not come with any crackers), hot wings (okay), mozzarella sticks (yummy), Prime Rib (good), mashed potatoes (good), and a chocolate chunk Pizookie (yummy, but large). The food and drinks overall was delicious, though there were a couple of minor hiccups. I ordered steamed broccoli, but they brought me black beans instead, and I just wasn't a fan of the black beans. Also, we were seated near the patio door, so we got a few gusts of wind whenever it opened. One nice perk is that if you want to take that adorable bathtub cup home as a souvenir, it’s $10, and it's a nice sturdy cup with their logo on it. Overall, even with those little mix-ups, it was still a good experience and a great spot for a special treat. With military discount the bill came out to about $260, which is pretty pricey, but we did order a lot and had some leftovers. I'd definitely go back—just maybe be sure to get a better seating location and prepare the family to share the Pizookie because those are large and have a lot of calories, haha.

The atmosphere and food was enjoyable, however the service had absolutely, inexcusably failed us. I took my partner out to have a casual date together to celebrate a special occasion and drove over an hour to be here. We were quickly greeted and seated upon entering last night at around 6:15 and our server, Joe, briefly introduced himself and took our drink and appetizer order, a couple waters, a boba drink, a small alcoholic beverage, and chips and guac. It took about 20 minutes to receive these (which were practically just dropped in front of us wordlessly) and then we were left to pick at our chips for 30 minutes before our server remembered we were sitting there. We were not checked up on by anyone, no friendly small talk, no apologies about our wait, the staff would hardly look at us. When I had to ask for straws, the young woman who I spoke to responded curtly, "Ok." and made a face that made us feel like an inconvenience before tossing straws down in front of us. When our server finally got to us, he spoke quickly, quietly and didn't smile nor make eye contact with either of us. He took our order, new orleans jambalaya and steak with shrimp scampi combo. He did not ask me how I wanted my steak done and left quickly after, again with no apologies for the wait time, as we've been there for an hour now and all we had were a handful of chips and drinks. We received our food at 7:45, which was given to us by a young man who again, said hardly anything to us and would not look at us. My partner and I looked at each other and tried to make light, joking that it felt like everyone must have just been hired the day before because that would be the only way that excused the quality of service we received. But by that point we were too upset that it had put us off our meal entirely. So my partner flagged down Joe and had him bring us our check and some boxes soon after getting our food which he did. We paid with cash, it took 15 agonizing minutes for him to silently pick it up, ask if we wanted change and thats it. We were visibly and audibly upset and yet we received no questions, no apologies, and in the TWO HOURS we have been there by that point, not a lick of even the most basic customer service. We left a little after 8 with no tip and we left our food behind, far too upset to even think of wanting to eat the rest. My partner noted that they watched other tables get customer service by the team members that failed us, receiving smiles and small talk and we can't help but wonder if your team don't know how to kindly approach people who look different from your typical customer base. We both come from the hospitality and customer service industry and are able to overlook and excuse a lot of things from less than stellar staff interactions, we know how it is sometimes and off days are unavoidable in this industry, but this was just ridiculous. I mean everyone, save for the lady at the front desk, couldn't treat us even slightly kindly? We were far too forgiving last night and should have asked for a manager to complain, but at that point, we just wanted to get out of there. I'm not adverse to longer than typical wait times but for your staff to sheepishly avoid it and treat us like we are unwelcome and an inconvenience? Do more than do better; retrain your staff members on how to do their jobs because they clearly need to learn when to own up to their own failings and how to treat folks who look different than they do. We will never be back. Enjoy...
