So with the Olympics ending, I was left with a sad, empty feeling to start the week out with. At least Steph Curry going super-saiyan on France for Team USA basketball won us our 5th consecutive Gold Medal. That was more entertaining than watching phallic pole vault disqualifications or drunken Australian breakdancing. That being said, there was still a void that needed to be filled. Unfortunately, my parents weren’t abusive enough to instill a psychological obsession with athletic perfection at a young age, so unless the Olympics committee starts a new sport which requires making memes, then my chances of winning a gold medal against a different country is pretty much non-existent at this point.
Nonetheless, I still wanted to see if I had what it took. Looking at the list of sports, there were plenty that were applicable- I saw Equestrian, but since I don’t have a horse, I would probably have to get drunk with a cougar at the Maverick & convince her to let me borrow her husbands horse but that would require some unspeakables in the parking lot. Too much risk and the only reward would be HPV and the only medal I would get is the one her husband shoots at me with. I considered things like archery because there’s plenty of gun and bow bros here in Tucson. Anything that requires fast projectiles and bad decisions, Tucson has covered. Then I looked at cycling, basketball, Judo, fencing, skateboarding, breaking, and long jump. I figured all of those can be done at a local park EASILY. Heck every time I drive by Santa Rita Park it looks like all of those things are happening already. Lots of wrestling, sword fighting and drunken screaming & breakdancing. Just don’t test them for performance enhancers & we should be fine.
Sadly, my hammer throw equipment was on delay from Amazon since everyone is trying to be cool at the same time and order everything olympic related. I wanted to avoid as many cardiovascular intensive sports as possible and work my way up with throwing stuff first. I wasn’t going to pay money for a shot put ball because on tv it just looks like a rock ball. I’m just jealous of the people selling shot put balls because dang…they got lucky with that one. I wasn’t going to buy a competition javelin either because I already had a Extendable Pole Saw & Pruner from Ace Hardware and that’s basically just a big, long ole stick & it should do the trick.
Let’s just say when I walked onto the U of A Rincon Vista Rec Fields wearing an American Flag leotard carrying a big rock and an extentable pole saw and pruner, some of the ladies on the track stopped and took in the full glory. I’m just sayin’. I found a nice open, grassy spot and made sure there was nobody within my greek god throwing proximity. Just in case though I did yell out “HEY, Olympian athlete in training here and I’m about to throw some cool objects so go on n git outa the wayyyyy”. I did spend about 2 minutes in the parking lot looking at youtube videos on proper shot put technique. They give away medals for this? Pssh. So I held it up to my neck and then started to do some spinny dancing twirls for about 5 seconds but then some jealous dude in a polo with big sunglasses and a U of A lanyard came over to me yelling and asked me if I had a membership pass. I said “okay…okay…no, I don’t.” “Then I need to ask you to leave”. “Okay, one more thing” I said. Then grabbed my pruner stick, took a few running steps and threw that sucker like Brad Pitt in Troy. I didn’t even watch it land because I wanted to walk away all cool like while saying “it’s yours, keep it”. I was almost to my car when I heard some clapping and something about breaking a new record but whatever, I was in no mood anymore. So I came to Le Macaron French Pastries to not only eat my feelings, but to honor Paris and the glory that is Team USA. I ordered 3 macarons, red white and blue and to honor Steph Curry's 3 pointers, I stuck all three in my mouth at the same time and almost died doing so. Thank you for the water and for not calling the medics. Great macaron...
Read moreTried Le Macaron French pastries yesterday, located in downtown Tucson. So delicious and fresh. Love them ❤️. I got bubble gum gelato, macaroons, chocolates, and meringues.
I like trying new things.. I have tried macaroons at least 2 times previously (store bought), did not like, 🤢. Came to the conclusion they were more for esthetic appeal than taste. Lol. I definitely wanted to try everything at this pastry shop, considering everything is made fresh. I am glad I did. Macaroons can actually taste good. Also, it almost felt like fate. About a week ago, I was searching Google for any ice cream shops that might possibly have my all-time FAVORITE flavor " bubble gum" ❤️. Baskin Robin's used to carry it all the time when I was a kid.. couldn't find it anywhere. While I was at Le Macaron, I saw they had bubble gum in gelato.. but I was kinda unsure about it because, just like macaroons, the 2 or 3 previous times I tried Gelato, I did not like it at all.. When I tried the bubble gum gelato here, OMG. Best bubble gum flavored frozen dessert I have tried yet! Absolutely in love ❤️. I also got macaroons in bubble gum flavor, and I...
Read moreThe store itself is absolutely adorable. Such a fun space and a great aesthetic atmosphere. We got our food to go, but this would be a great little place to go hang out and have a little treat. There were two employees working when we went in. The male employee who was helping us first did not seem to want to be there and seemed like we were inconveniencing him by being there. The female employee who took over was much more friendly and helpful. The macarons seemed pretty pricey to me, but this is not the type of place I frequent, so it may be an average price point. The pastries are discounted after a certain time of night (I believe she said 7pm), which was great. I would agree with another reviewer who said some of the flavors are hit or miss as far as how much of the flavor comes through, but they were all very tasty. The chocolate croissant...
