The Hub was unreal. I stumbled in without expectations, just looking for a place to relax before leaving Tucson, and what I found was something truly special. I sat in the garden lounge, the only customer there that early, but the bartender—Robert—treated me like I was the most important guest of the day. That kind of attention is rare. I ordered a pear martini with ginger, citrus, and what felt like a dozen other subtle flavors—and even though I felt slightly guilty about how complicated it was, Robert made it feel like an art form. It wasn’t just a drink; it was a kind of ceremony.
Originally, I planned on ordering the salmon salad. But something about the seared salmon entrée caught my eye—served with blueberry sauce. That combination alone made me pause. It felt bold. And when it arrived, it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The salmon was perfectly seared, flaky and tender, and the blueberry reduction wasn’t just a garnish—it transformed the dish into something luxurious and unforgettable. The flavors lingered. I took my time. I didn’t want it to end.
The place was fairly empty when I arrived, maybe because it had just opened for the day, or maybe because it was Mother’s Day and everyone else was fighting for tables at overcrowded spots. In fact, I had come from another restaurant that turned me away with what I’d call an impressive lack of grace. I left feeling brushed off and a little defeated—but then I walked into The Hub, and everything turned around.
David, who I believe is the manager, was also incredibly welcoming. There was no pretension, no rush—just good energy , warm hospitality, and a feeling that you were in the right place. Honestly, kind of cool to . I just hear two friends that were together talking and really enjoying each other while I was eating . You can tell a lot about a place when people like each other. Who worked there . That’s what made it so memorable. It wasn’t just the food or drink—which were excellent on their own—it was the people who made it all come alive.
David talked me through the menu and told me about Tucson history too . The whole time he was getting the bar in order and still smiling and laughing
In a city I barely knew, during my final few hours before leaving, I somehow found this hidden gem. I didn’t expect to be writing a review, but it felt unfair to keep it to my self...
Read moreWe were there on a quiet Thursday afternoon @3:30PM, for a late lunch, there were 4 other tables of customers who were all finishing up and leaving. Our waiter came by and said someone else would be with us shortly. So we waited, and waited, and finally the same guy came back to take our order, at least the bus person gave us some water. He takes our order for drinks, I was wanting to taste a beer before I ordered, he finally came back and I advised him that I would take a different beer instead. So he wanders off to the kitchen, and was putting candles on each table while I could see my beer at the bar. Finally I walked up to the bar to get my beer and sat back down. The bartender was apologetic for my having to get up to get my beer. Finally again the waiter comes back to take our food orders. I suggested to my husband that he should try the "pot pie", which he did. Unfortunately it had "no flavor" so I suggested he get some hot sauce, which he asked for but didn't receive until after he had eaten what he wanted of it. I ordered 2 more beers, at the same time, they sat on the bar once again, until finally the bartender served them to us! The young man who was our waiter was not interested in "serving us", the only customers in the restaurant. He seemed much more interested in doing "Bus person duties", so maybe that's what he should be! Sauntering around the room like he was in a fashion show or something. My Pastrami sandwich was just as I remembered, great! But the experience left us very unhappy. I told my husband to leave him a bad tip, but my husband is not like that. He brought us the check without asking if we would like anything else. I wanted some ice cream to take home and had to pay again for that, as our tab was already closed. This guy was a total idiot, not someone who should be working in a nice restaurant. In the old days my friend Sam would have fired him I'm sure. Customers are what pay your bills and tips, don't treat your customers like they are "aliens from...
Read moreHaving gone here so many times prior to the remodel, it was amazing. Afterwards never again. In March 2025 I got married and had my wedding party here. Drinks and dinner. 12 people. I ordered the New York Strip. They served me a 12+ inch human hair folded and hidden underneath my steak. On my 3rd or 4th bite of steak I didn't see it and accidentally swallowed half of it and pulled it out of my throat with my hand while my guests watched in horror. No one was happy to consume anything there afterwards and quickly wanted to leave. I was offered free ice cream to make up for it and to make me another steak at the end of the night when we were leaving. I refused because I could no longer trust any products from this restaurant and did not want to inconvenience my guests any further so they wouldn't have to sit there and watch me eat the hairfree version of my meal after they all finished. They comped my meal instead, although my bill was over $600 for everyone.. Completely ruined such a great night for me. I used to recommend this place to all. Now I tell people to eat here if you like to eat human hair and insulting service. They did not validate our parking at the hotel next door so I had to pay for parking for all my guests as well since I told them it was supposed to be free. 1 star. If a manager or someone with any guts came to speak with me, I would have likely given it another shot and written it off as an ugly but forgivable mistake but they left our young server to deal...
