Me and my three other friends had decided to come here and eat because one of them had recommended this place. It was going well at first with us getting seated and receiving our food quickly, but the broth of the ramen was SO SALTY. Not only that, but the meat was extremely tough and tasted old (i nearly spent 2 minutes chewing to just swallow it). Only good thing I'd say about the food was the noodles, and only that. Okay, enough about the food.... I gotta spend quite a bit of words to explain my bill situation.

When we asked for the bill, the waiter had told us it was $47.91, which me and my friends had decided to split it between the four of us. We had rounded the bill to $48 and divided it by four, which was $12. I had everyone take out $12 each and hand it to me for counting, except one didn't have loose money, so they handed me $20. That made the total amount of cash tendered $56. I had recounted the amount of cash about 2-3 times before handing it to the waiter. Me and my friends weren't planning to tip, so we expected our change to come back as $89. But for some REALLY odd reason, the waiter comes back and says that we're missing money. What's confusing is; as they said so, they placed $34 worth of cash and coins onto the table???? Y'know what's even weirder? They told us we were missing 2 OR MAYBE 3 dollars. Why the or maybe? At this point I think the waiter was just trying to get a tip. But anyways, I felt the need of saying something about this towards the waiter, but I unfortunately have a bit of social anxiety and was too scared to confront them. So I was just going to comply with them and just hand the waiter 2 dollars, but then my friend hands them 10 dollars first (I again did not say anything because I was scared of speaking up).

Having my friend give the waiter the additional unnecessary $10 made the total tendered cash be $63 (that's included with $3~4 dollars they placed at first). As the waiter hands us the paper bill after paying, they also give us more change (which was $2.09)???? With the change we were left with for the second time, the total tendered cash changed to $60.91. I then read the paper bill myself, and the bill states that we had ONLY $50 cash tendered???? I calculated the change we had should've gotten back, and it was $13.

In short, one of the waiters robbed us of $13.

Math: 3(12) + 20 = 56 (the actual amount of cash tendered) 56 - 47.91= 8.09 (what our original change should've been) 56 + 10 - 3 = 63 (after my friend gave the waiter 10 dollars) 63 - 2.09 = 60.91 (total cash tendered minus the change the waiter gave us) 60.91 - 47.91 = 13 (the ACTUAL amount of change we should've received)

I've been thinking if this could be a possible mistake, but the more and more i think about it, I cannot simply think this was a mistake. (the date of this whole exchange was on 8/16 and we ordered at 3:45 pm)

also the reason why this is being posted so late is because of the fact that I had actually originally posted this on yelp, but i checked just a couple a minutes ago but it doesn't seem to be shown on the website,...

The first time I went to this restaurant I had a great time. The server recommended the perfect bowl of ramen for me as it was my first time there. So I go back a second time and I try to order the same thing I had the first time. They change the menu two times before I came back! So it wasn't located in the place I remember. As I was describing the bowl to the waitress she kept saying it was this one bowl and I was like no it didn't have any of that stuff in it! Finally she says it must have been a fusion Bowl and he didn't let you know. So I just told her I only want these things in the bowl with this broth in this noodles. She asked me if I wanted my vegetables just on the side and just a bowl of ramen and I said no and I had to repeat myself several times each time I spoke which was frustrating but I just wanted to get the order placed. So the food comes out and all my vegetables are on the side! The server checked on us right after the food came out and asked if we needed anything and I said no and she left before I could say anything else and then we didn't see her the entire time we were eating my son finished his drink and needed a refill I had to wave someone down to get that for him and then my daughter needed a refill towards the end of our meal and I just told her not to get it we're going to leave anyway. So I asked to speak to the supervisor to let them know about my experience that the waitress just took our order and checked once barely and then that was it and we didn't get the service we thought we would get. The girl who I asked said, "the supervisor just took a lunch break". I said, "how long will they be gone"? She replied an hour! I said okay then I'll wait. Then the server came back over pretending to be the manager! When I said well I'm unhappy with the service you provided our table. She said, "well what do you want me to do about it"? I said, "well if that's your attitude...then nothing". Then and I said come on kids let's go. We were leaving and she said wait.. did you pay your bill? Using a rude tone! I thought now shes trying to accuse us of not paying on top of the bad service!!! (The meals should of been discounted for the bad service!) The server was some white girl with glasses and black hair. Anyway, disappointed in the service that I received! Appalled by my servers reaction to what I had to say. You cannot impersonate someone especially above your station. I don't have time for the high school games. Ridiculous! Not worth coming back to barely get full. This is more like a lunch thing we tried it for dinner and we left disappointed unsatisfied! Not even worth the gas to...

VERY PLEASANT UPDATE: Please make sure that you keep having a good manager in this store. What a huge difference when there is a change of management. We walked in today and it reminded me the atmosphere they had when they first opened. I asked Sydney (the team leader who served us) whether something has changed and I asked for the manager that emailed me before (see below) and she said he no longer works there. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. I hope customers will come back (since it looks like patron number has gone down everywhere) and give it a try again. We've nearly given hope on this place (but I gave in to my boy's love of ramen).

UPDATE: manager wrote back. Gave it another try. Now it’s evident that inflation got the better of the chicken wings. See photo for size. Updated food rating from 5 to 2. Will use up all my Costco cards and not come after that. Feels like other patrons also slowly catching on… getting pretty empty.

What a month can change. SO MANY EMPTY TABLES and they just won’t get ready for a table for 5. Getting a free drink may not be enough from pulling family with hungry kids to choose udon over ramen!! Oh… when we sat down, they tried to deny the free drink as well (it’s a promo that if you wait for 30min you get a drink and other stuff for waiting for 60 or 90+ mins). They really need to get it together. This used to be our favorite place… but the service at the udon place has been exceptionally good.

One final thought as I walked out, I realize that no one greets you here with a smile (let alone enthusiastically shouting welcome in Japanese)… no one greets you out anymore. Now, that’s not something that one should expect in any restaurants here, but for a Japanese themed restaurant, that’s when the cognitive dissonance happens. If you don’t train your staff to carry the spirit of the place, it’s be lost. That’s the real pity of all this.

Leaving old review so that you can see the difference… just to keep things transparent

With the udon place now opened in Southcenter as well, there’s definitely a feeling that they’re fighting back with promotions. But with a combination of Costco gift card and the amazing soft boiled eggs that are just so special here, they don’t need to worry. We will...

First... The food was fabulous! Some of the best gyozas I've had! However... The waitress was anything but. I understand we all have bad days but when you treat your customers like they are an inconvenience, you make the whole establishment look bad and lose potential repeat business. I know for myself, I will come back simply because the food was that good and the rest of the staff interactions I had were positive. For those that want more details, I'll explain. We had sat down for all of two minutes when the waitress came to take our order. When I tried to explain my niece had never had ramen before, I was cut off and told "if you're not ready, I'll come back," and walked away with an eye roll before I could say I wanted her to explain a couple items on the menu. The food arrived and she never returned to check on us. Our drinks were almost out when she brought the food but wasn't offered a refill and she hadn't waited long enough for me to ask. My niece tried the ramen but wasn't a big fan so I wanted to order more gyozas for her (she LOVED those) but every time the waitress walked past, I couldn't get her attention. I did however watch how every person who asked anything she would roll her eyes as she walked away. I finally was able to get the attention of another waiter. I was already done with my ramen so ordered the gyozas and a to go box for her uneaten ramen. She walked over after with the check and acted annoyed when I said we ordered gyozas and brought a new check. Knowing we were still waiting on food, we still didn't get new drinks. 50.00 later, I wish the service would have been better.
