Ideally located about 8 min from SEATAC and next to a shopping centre which we took advantage of during our unexpected 3 day layover. If you are traveling with a family, I recommend booking a suite which has a queen bed, a queen sofa and a bedroom with a king bed. The bathroom is large and we loved the Dove shampoo and conditioner!
Amenities: We used the swimming pool and workout room, and enjoyed the morning breakfast (6-9 am) which included an assortment of hot foods (eggs, bacon, sausage, hot cereal, make your own pancakes) and cold items like yogurt (Chobani!), cereal, fruit. The coffee and tea station is available 24/7 in the lobby. I drank a lot of hot water during our stay due to the availability - I was nice a hydrated for our upcoming flight! There is also coffee available in your room plus a mini fridge with freezer. A coin laundry is also available if needed. WIFI was strong.
The hotel is clean and modern, the beds and bedding were soft and comfortable. You need your key card to access everything including the elevator and we appreciated this extra level of security. We learned on our last day that Tukwila is not the safest of areas but we did not see any evidence, even walking to and from the shopping centre.
WHAT TO DO: We spent two afternoons at the Westfield Southcenter shopping mall, including one full afternoon at Round1 arcade and entertainment. The mall includes a movie theatre and a large selection of restaurants and fast food joints (recommend Jolibees, the french fry stand just around the corner from Jolibees, the crepe place below the food court escalator). We also took a uber to the Seattle Link transit station (located very close by) and went downtown to Pike Place market. It was a nice way to fill the days since we were not planning to be in Seattle!
The only downsides to the hotel I can think of was a lack of hot tub but that's really a "nice to have". And being next to the freeway, some may find it a bit loud but it's nothing compared to having jet engines flying over you throughout the night! Also, if your flight leaves really early, you won't be able to enjoy the free breakfast.
I will definitely return and would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone who will be in the...
Read moreExceptional would be an understatement. I have been a member of IHG for five plus years. I have been traveling and staying in hotels for over fifteen years. Hotels ranging from Oceanside Resorts, Bungalows to Suites. I must say my experience with this hotel is unparalleled. Others need to take a page from this fine ran organization and try to emulate. This Holiday Inn Express & Suites has set the standards pretty high. From top to bottom. The cleanliness provided by the staff goes unnoticed from the time that you enter the building to the time you leave. The front desk receptionists Angie, Gloria and Fatima were exceptional! Their attention to detail and the willingness to provide top tier service was superb! The house cleaning service lady that I had clean my room (Beth). She was always kind and polite to each matter that I had. A softspoken voice with great determination to adhere to my needs as well as wants. My apology for not getting the name of the most dedicated person to manage the kitchen for breakfast. She is without a doubt one of the most pivotal employees there. She always had a nice warm breakfast waiting for you. Now everyone knows how you like a hot cup of coffee in the morning right. No worries, she was always on the move providing beverages to your liking. As if that isn't enough. She worked tirelessly ensuring that the dining room was kept cleaned and sanitized. I would be remiss if I didn't mentioned Ken. This gentleman made me feel at home, actually he made me feel like family. It was always good having and enjoying a nice conversation with such a wise man. I really enjoyed my stay; I loved my stay. I look forward to my next visit. I appreciate you all! You all made a lasting impression on me for life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel so welcome. Until nest time take...
Read moreI booked a suite, paid a lot extra for it and it was just a typical hotel room and not like the suites i normally get from holiday inn. It had a little extra space with a couch and that's it. The view was of the back of Lowes. There wasn't even a real closet in the tiny room. Just a wooden wardrobe. There was a walking trail arid the parking lot that i do not recommend. It's full of trash, broken glass and needles. I'm not familiar with the area, but I assumed it was nice based on the price. I was wrong. The young man who checked me in and Gloria the shuttle driver were both very nice and accommodating. However the manager there in the morning was rude and accused my daughter of overflowing the tub and said it went into the overflow drainage holes and leaked into the lobby. If that was the case, the water would have gone into the drain pipe and if that's leaking, it wouldn't be my fault. She took a shower and water got in the floor, she went to the front desk for more towels to clean it up and they sent a maintenance person with a mop to help clean. They said it was no big deal and we were not going to be charged for it. The morning manager charged me an extra hundred even though we were already told otherwise. She was also rude about it and kept insisting the water wasn't from the floor even though her staff helped cleaned it up .If you don't have proper shower curtains and bathroom floors that are not leakproof, that's not my problem. Front desk was alerted and the bill i received AFTER the incident did not include the extra...
