The rating waivers between two and three stars, if it were possible to do a two and a half that would be perfect.
I am heartbroken. We went into this stay very excited as we had stayed at this double tree before, admittedly almost 5 years ago. The hotel staff was friendly enough and the lobby was very nice. They've redecorated a little bit I think and the lobby featured the bar front and center with the restaurant set off to one side. The business area was easily accessed, just past the in house Starbucks that we didn't try. The pool is a little bit hidden but gorgeous once you find it. It was also extremely over chlorinated, enough that just being in it for 15 minutes or so had both my wife's and my own sinuses burning for the rest of the night.
Once we got to the room though things started go downhill. The room was very bland and felt unfortunately familiar, just like a hospital waiting room. The decorations were sparse and a little weird as far as taste go. We had a suite and the living room furniture had a very beat up coffee table. The bedroom was also bland and felt very sterile but not in a good plain way. The curtains on the wall with the window had decorative molding in front of them which looked fine, if on the same bland scale as the rest of the room, but in one corner there were cobwebs in front of the molding. Probably because, as we found out, the housekeeping leaves the window open a crack when they freshen the room, there is no screen.
There were additional cosmetic flaws scattered throughout the suite. The room looks like it had been beat up pretty badly and poorly patched. There was a fair number of white patches for the paint had been scrapped off the wall to reveal bright white underneath especially near the desk and the bed. The bedroom lamp also had a ripped patch in one of the shades and there was rust on the bathroom door frame.
There were a couple other minor things that were small annoyances but added up including the housekeeping's irregular schedule and after calling for a late check out someone came up to our room to ask when we would it be checking out. I feel like asking for the late checkout should have notified them of when we would be checking out. It wasn't housekeeping oddly, just some lady in a blazer with a clipboard and name tag. and when I told her we asked for late check out she was like 'oh' and walked away without saying anything else. If you're going to interrupt me getting ready to leave at least have some manners.
It was also very loud. while I understand the convenience of having a bar in the hotel, it also lent itself to unpleasantly loud evenings. There should be some sort of sound dampening involved because we spent two of our evenings playing music so that we wouldn't have to listen to people shouting at the bar.
In summation, it was an adeaqute hotel. Technically acceptable, but it wasn't the wonderful experience we expected and, for as much as we paid it felt very cheap. considering the other options in the area we are very unlikely to...
Read moreWe stayed here our final night in Seattle because it got good reviews and it was near the airport with a shuttle. Southcenter Parkway is a very busy road, with access to Route 5 which is a major artery in this area so therefore lots of traffic all the time. People who drive around here don't slow down or allow for any kind of deviation in other drivers but do things like pull a no signal U-turn in the middle of traffic, refusing to go through an intersection when the light is green, stop dead for anyone crossing in front of them, no matter whether it is a pedestrian, a runner, a cyclist, a skateboarder, etc. and everyone else just had to wait behind them. It's a good thing we had someone else drop us off at the airport; I don't think my nerves could have taken driving there. I wrote all of that to say, if you're staying in this area, keep your wits about you at every moment. That said, the morning we tried to check into this place (we had an all day day trip and wanted to leave our bags and get a room key), there was nothing available, so we had to stand in line that evening to check in instead, an no one there is in any kind of hurry. As tired and sore as we were, once we got the key and our bags we only had about 10 hours left before we had to get up again and get to the airport. In the morning, when I was more than half asleep, looking all over the suite for the coffee maker, and there was none. If they could have posted one sign or at least told us that coffee was on our own, I could have prepared. I really am not fit to face anything until I've had my first cup. There was however, a Starbucks conveniently located in the lobby, all the way downstairs, in public. Needless to say, I didn't partake in a $7 cup of their coffee. I just did without until we were served on the plane. My goodness, coffee never tasted so darn good. This hotel didn't provide breakfast either, so we lost out on that too. They did have a business center for customer use, which was nice. At least we could check in and print our boarding passes ahead. Every moment counts sometimes, and that morning, it was a convoluted mess getting to the correct gate for our flight. Sea Tac has decided to allocate one area for Pre-Check (a paid service) customers, and those who don't have that have to walk up, down through and around another half mile to get to the general TSA check in areas. That is ridiculous and unfair to passengers on the same flights. The general attitude in Seattle: you're...

Reservations-5-Always easy with Concur Parking-4-plenty of parking available and easy access. Marked down to 4 because ai do t think you should have to pay extra ($20/night) to park at a hotel you are already paying to stay at. Just my opinion. Room-5- Would be a 6 if I gave a 6. I can’t say enough about this room (rooms). It was a two room suite with a separate bedroom and living room. The living room had a comfortable sofa and table, a round dinner table and bar, and a great, large, functional desk. Having a separate workspace made life easier and I didn’t need to shut my laptop and/or remote screen due to light. Mattress/pillows-5-Maybe the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in, not sure what made it that way but it was. Elevator speed/availability-4-Elevators were pretty quick, lost a point because one of the three elevators was down the entire time I was there. It’s a big hotel and two elevators can slow down guest. Gym/pool-5-Again I would give the gym a 6 if I gave 6’s. A great selection of dumbbells, cardio equipment, kettlebells and a smith rack with a straight bar and handles. (It would be nice to have more handles for the smith machine but that’s not a deal breaker) Restaurant-3- I ordered from the bar not the restaurant so I can only speak to the bar. I am not a fan of being asked to tip before I receive my food but most places seem to be heading this way. My food order was messed up pretty badly and I was in a hurry so I was stuck with it. The person behind the bar didn’t write down my order so I’m sure that’s why it was messed up, the other person behind the bar that I paid was a little rude. Needless to say I won’t eat at the bar for the remainder or in the future. Staff-5-Even with the bar staff the admissions folks at the front desk and other employees (maintenance and at the in-house Starbucks) were fantastic and very helpful. Price-5-Seemed appropriate and fair. Overall-5-My new favorite Hilton, I will definitely stay here again and I recommend you check it out if you are in/around Seattle. Shout out- Renee at the front desk was fantastic. Bonus- There is an Outback in the front parking lot, and a giant mall (Southcenter Westfield Mall) right across the street with tons of food options...
