I tried to go about this by emailing the restaurant directly the day I went (2/13) and have yet to hear from them so here we go
I dined with il seme tonight (2/13) my husband and I had a dinner reservation for 7pm (booked 1/27) I have been waiting to try this place. I had a great experience with the owners other concept farmbar. While it has been a couple years since, and I’m aware of it being a different establishment, I suppose there was a level of service I was anticipating. We dine out often and we typically don’t care one way or the other for subpar service. I’ve been in the industry for most of my life, my husband as well, and we understand not every night is indicative of overall performance. While our food was great, we had the fried olives, fennel, short rib, gnocchi, and parpadelle, the service left something to be desired. We were there for nearly two hours. It took thirty or forty minutes to even get our entrees ordered. Our server, I believe Elsa, seemed bothered if not outright burdened by our presence. Seeing she had three other tables in her section I was able to also notice the stark difference of the service our surrounding tables received from her. We do not dress up to go out. We dress nice or appropriately. But I felt as thought she thought we were either too poor for her section or too poor overall for the restaurant. I hesitated writing because honestly what’s it going to do? I read the reviews before coming to il seme and knew at worst what to expect. I did not however expect to be ignored, dismissed, and cold shouldered. I had to make my server stop long enough to listen to my full order and to even get a second drink ordered. I guess all I’m saying is, people work long and hard for their money nowadays. To be treated as if I shouldn’t be there has made me choose to not return. Despite the food, despite the atmosphere. I am deeply saddened that I was made to experience this but also that I’m probably not the only one. I genuinely do no recommend anyone go here for the sheer fact that someone who was fired from this establishment is now employed again and obviously doing a disservice to the...
Read moreWe were really excited to try [Restaurant Name] for our second anniversary, especially since it’s a lesbian-owned establishment and we love supporting LGBTQ+ businesses. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing.
First, the food was lackluster. The portions were small, the pasta was overcooked (not al dente), and the rigatoni had almost no sauce or seasoning—it was supposed to be spicy, but it had zero flavor. It honestly tasted like plain boxed pasta. Given the price point, we expected much better quality.
Service was equally frustrating. Our server was also the bartender, but they were barely present at our table. We had to remind them about our drinks, which is especially absurd considering they were the one making them. We ordered Topo Chico instead of alcohol, and they completely forgot to bring them during dinner, yet had plenty of time to make drinks for other tables.
To top it all off, we noticed that another table received portions nearly double the size of ours for the same dish. That was a major letdown, especially considering we had made a special reservation for our anniversary.
Overall, this was not the experience we hoped for. We wanted to love this place, but between the poor service and lackluster food, we won’t be back. Hopefully, they can take feedback seriously...
Read moreAmazing experience at il seme. Few places in Tulsa actually have food quality that justifies its price. The service was top notch. My only gripe is that the tables are in an open space without partitions so it gets very noisy easily. The arancini was delicious and the sauce at the bottom was a nice touch to dip them in. The Caesar cucumber salad was nice twist, could have used some more salt. Expect to get one or two bitter slices. Super crunchy and fresh with a surprising panko addition. The pasta was right at al dente. There could have been more sauce on the rigatoni but flavor was everything was there. My fiancé’s spaghetti with mussels was great too, she says there could have been more mussels added but other than that the white lemon sauce for it perfectly seasoned. The wine pairing recommendations from the server could have been better but they weren’t bad by any means. Would love to see recommendations of what to pair with what food on the menu itself. Overall would recommend to anyone for a fantastic...
