John's Place — Restaurant in Twentynine Palms

Hello, Over the past year, I've come to visit my brother here in 29 Palms. He really enjoyed going to John's Place. I enjoyed the food there as well. My brother likes Green Tabasco with his meal, John's Place does not supply Green Tabasco, so my brother would bring his own. On one visit as I was leaving town, I took it on myself to go get two different kinds of Green Sauce and take it to John's Place with the instructions to have on hand when my brother came in for Breakfast. On my next visit, again we went to John's Place. I asked my brother if they gave him Green Sauce. He said no. I couldn't understand that. So when we were leaving I asked the manager/owner who was the person that accepted the Green Sauces I brought in originally, if she ever gave my brother the Green Sauce, she said no. So I said, "Can I have them back then?" She looked where she put them when I gave them to her, and said they were gone. She and my brother talked, and we walked to the car. The owner came out of the restaurant and had words with my brother. I was in the car so I didn't hear what was said, but could tell it was irritated talk. I feel that John Place stole from me. They had several opportunities to return the Green Sauce to me or my brother, but did not do that. What has happened to 'The Customer Comes First'? And for the owner to deliberately come out of the restaurant to give her 2 cents, and have the last word, that's terrible customer service, especially to a loyal customer, that came to eat breakfast everyday, and lunch & dinner many days. When I returned in December 2022 to visit. I was so happy to hear that my brother, nor his friends, go to John's Place anymore. The only way for some Business Owners to get the point sometimes is through the pocket book. And just to let you know it isn't that usual for restaurants to have Green Tabasco on hand for customers to use, C & S in Yucca Valley & Denny's in 29 Palms provide it. Thanks...

I had a horrible experience there tonight. Mainly because of the women with the dreds who took my order. My order #1065 at 6:47pm. I went inside the restaurant and ordered my food at the register. I ordered 1 burger plain with cheese and the other 2 cheeseburgers were regular with no tomato, all 3 well done. I went outside and waiting for my food in my car. I drove to the pick-up window after about 15 minutes of waiting and sat at the pick-up window for another 5-10mins before someone came to assist me. By that time my food has fallen under temperature. When I got home I noticed that 1 burger of the 3 was made correctly and the other 2 were messed up. 1 burger was only a meat paddy and bun. Nothing else. The other was regular but missing the cheese. I called to let the worker know that there was an issue and she immediately got defensive and started to argue with me over it. She stated "Let's not play the blame game" after I told her I asked for cheeseburgers, and I don't understand why 2 didn't have it on them. She then stated that she re-read the order to me and said hamburgers so it's my fault that I didn't correct her even though I said I wanted cheeseburgers to begin with. It's hard to tell when she read the order back to me because cheeseburger and hamburger all sounds the same after you state what you wanted clearly and expected the person taking the order to listen. All around very poor service. Cold food. Pink meat inside. Un-cooked huge onion rings that are very nasty half fast batter. There was beer in a cup partially drank sitting in the drink machine tray visible from the drive-thru window. As a local of this town, I wouldn't go back ever again because of the way I was treated tonight. I've had better food...

What a great experience! I've always seen John's Place on highway 62, but never stopped by until today. They offer a unique variety of dishes. This is my new favorite place to eat in Twentynine Palms. On Wednesday and Sunday they have their junior burgers on sale half off for only $2. Don't let the name fool you however. Their junior burgers have a juicy quarter pound ALL beef. It was delicious. The fries were great as well. I also ordered tacos. One carne asada and the other chicken (chicken was better). Also ordered chicken strips... they good. The staff was helpful and friendly. My drink was refilled without me having to ask. Plenty of free parking available. Although they do have a drive through, I opted to dine in. The prices are great, and what's best is that the tax is included. That means when the menu says $7 for a Caesar salad, you will pay exactly $7 for the salad.it has a unique feel to it somewhere between a restaurant and a fast food joint with traditional American eats and plenty of Mexican inspired options that are exceptional! The cheeseburger I had there was quite possibly the best tasting cheeseburger I've had in the whole state of California. Try it! You will not regret. Additionally, they offer 10% military discount.
