It was my 3rd trip to fairfax location. First time I went there (it’s inside ozzie’s) the host asked if I want to sit down I informed I just need the menu so I can go to my car and decide what I want. I didn’t wanted to stay close to others amid Covid 19. She handed me a menu. I took it to the car and noticed she handed me the menu of ozzie’s and not best buns. I was with my friend and my friend got upset and wanted to leave but I wanted to give it a try, since I have been to Arlington location and love the food. I went back and waited for 15 mins before someone created and notice me waited. There were at least 5 employees just talking and no customer. I ordered 2 egg and cheese sandwich. Bread was ok. 2nd time I ordered egg and cheese croissant sandwich. The same server had hard time understanding that I wanted croissant. I speak fluent and clearly but she acted as if she hasn’t heard or seen croissant. I asked for coffee and creamer. They delivered outside to my car. Croissant was dipped in lot of oil. The only thing I could taste was oil. The sandwich was not intact. It was just in pieces. The coffee was black and cup was full. They did provided creamer in a small disposable container. But there was no way I could it in coffee, since there was no room for creamer. I had to drink black coffee to make room in the cup. I that struggle I spilled coffee and creamer in my car, I was really unhappy about it. 2 days ago I went to give it 3rd and last try. Ordered 2 egg and cheese sandwich and one bottle of water. I asked multiple times I want cold bottle of water. He asked if I want 1 or 2 water and I said just 1 bottle of water. The cashier was struggling to use POS system. Looks like he was new or untrained. There were 2 more employees standing there and chatting. One of the lady is always there. The cashier apologized for taking longer. I was not mad I felt sorry for him. That they put him in that position without proper training and support he said he will deliver the food outside in my car. Another employee brought the food but no water. I asked her for the water and she said there was no water ordered. I was surprised and upset. She went inside and brought 2 cups of cold water. We tried the sandwich and oil was dropped out of bread. It was really disgusting. I was really annoyed. I don’t know who’s the chef but he/she likes oil a lot. And put too much oil in sandwiches. ...
Read moreDelicious fresh baked bread and artisan sandwiches with a bit of confusing menu and layout. Similar concept as Maison Kayser and Pret a Manger. Unlike Pret and Maison that have a wall of grab and go food, you need to go to the counter here for the pre-made sandwiches (there are only a few on the small grab and go wall). The grab and go wall would make the layout much easier and quicker.
The vibrant chalkboard style menu on top is impossible to read while I couldn't stopped squinting trying to read the tiny print on the eye-level menu on the free-standing pole. Small menus would help and more legible writing in ONE color for the menu on top would do everyone a favor.
Don't expect to customize your sub despite the website. According to the website, you can easily customize your sandwich until 3pm. This isn't the case! The staff frowned when I tried to customize a sandwich and ended sticking with the pre-made.
The menu is pretty limited to a few lunch and breakfast sandwiches, burgers, salads. Not sure where "Best Buns" comes from? Only 3 burgers are featured on the menu and the bread seemed to be the "bread and butter".
The Caprese-style "Fresh Tomato & Mozzarella" sandwich was tasty with a fresh crunchy French baguette with a crispy shell and tender inside. The fresh mozzarella and juicy tomatoes were on point. While the sauteed onions added a nice touch with pesto, I wish there are arugula. The sandwich was missing some leafy greens. Solid 8 inches and no toppings fell out to my delight.
My hubby grilled the Grilled Chicken sandwich and the savory Ham & Cheese croissant.
While the pastries and over-sized cupcakes looked scrumptious, I was stuffed from 1/2 my sandwich and saved the rest for later.
Nice spot to grab a sub or a loaf of bread. The cafe style outdoor seating is nice and shaded while there is plenty of...
Read more08/10: visited the place again, the Chinese and his attitude. Does not know how to make Americano, uses warm tap water. Maybe this is the way they drink coffee in china, but definitely not Americano and tried to charge me for a mini cupcake the price of a large one. Asked for a refund and took my business away from china and associates. Also they refused to provide me with receipts until I insisted. There’re a total 8 coffee shops/ bakeries in the mall across the street including Cheesecake factory and a Starbucks store which has better coffee, not to mention Peet’s, Paul, and Silver Diner, and Dunkin’ Donuts trained staff with no nasty attitude.
06/16: got a cinnamon roll and a banana muffin, both were delicious. Recommend this place. Banana muffin is made with real bananas and not (06/28) went there to get a sandwich. I wanted a burger on icebox bread. I was told my only options are regular buns or gluten free buns, extra charge. If I am paying for my food then you should prepare it the way I wanted it not the way you want, otherwise offer it for free or pay for it yourself. I had a positive experience until this visit. What extra cost would the establishment incur if I got my patties in toasts? 🤷🏻♂️ I was hungry and took it. Nothing special about the burger. Also the Chinese associate...
