I was so excited to hear that Shake Shack was opening in Tysons Corner. This area is just boomin' with new developments and this outdoor plaza feature of the Tysons Corner Mall is awesome. Props to Shake Shack for jumping on this location.
My single shack burger with everything (except they forgot onions) was good, maybe even better than a few other Shake Shack burgers I've had in their DC locations. I attribute that to them being a little less busy at the time than their DC counterparts, but we'll see how they hold up to increasing demand and popularity.
I sat outside in their patio section, which is completely covered with umbrellas so no one needs to be fighting over shade during the hot months. Napkins are readily available on each table. When I came, the patio was fairly empty and completely clean - no food or wrappers or trash on the floor. Yes, some tables are squeezed snugly but that can be easily fixed by moving them apart. To be fair, I actually saw more families place tables together than break them apart. I also didn't see a lot of trouble with folks walking through the patio area, although I can imagine it being a bigger challenge when it's more crowded. Nothing, however, that warrants less in the rating.
The service was top notch. One server came around and asked if we wanted waters, which he promptly fetched for us. I never experienced that in any other Shake Shack locations.
The only very minor downside to this location (if it even counts as one) is that this new outdoor plaza has two ping pong tables located right next to the outdoor patio of Shake Shack, so players often lose the ping pong balls in the patio and will either go around looking for it while you're eating or you'll have to lend a hand and throw it back to them. I can see this being varying degrees of annoyance for folks.
The new outdoor plaza is really cool. Aside from the ping pong tables, there's cornhole, a giant chess set, and plenty of benches and other seating. A new Hyatt Regency is being built, as well as a new apartment building called Vita - both which rise above and overlook the plaza.
In addition to free Tysons Corner Mall wifi, Shake Shack also...
Read moreTony and his team at Shake Shack Tyson’s Corner are the best team ever! My daughter wanted to celebrate her 10th birthday eating lunch with her besties at her favorite place Shake Shack. We didn’t know if reserving a table for 12 was possible giving the small size of the restaurant. When I hear from Tony, the manager, promptly after, I was in awe. Not only he assured me that we will get a table exclusively for us but he asked about my daughter’s favorite things, and favorite color so she can be surprised on her birthday with balloons too. Leading up to her birthday, Tony even took time to follow up with us and expressing his excitement of being able to hosts us. When the day came, OMG. What we saw was nothing we could have ever expected. Tony coordinated with the support of his amazing team an area reserved exclusively for our party. Vanessa, from Tony’s team, an exceptional, sweet, kind, hard worker, and amazing person decorated the walls with birthday props, balloons everywhere on the table, a beautiful letter sign, even tablecloths and napkins of my daughter’s favorite color. And we couldn’t believe when a gift bag with a beautiful personalized card was handed out by Vanessa from Tony and his team! Tony, Vanessa, and team, you have touched our family’s heart. We will never forget this day. You made my daughter’s day so special and we are immensely grateful for you and for your hospitality. Tony, you are the pure definition of what a manager should be. You went the extra mile to make sure everything was going to be taken care of. Vanessa and the rest of the team went above and beyond, they were super attentive and even though the place was busy they handled it incredibly well and kept everyone happy. Tony, you’ve created such a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, and your team’s enthusiasm towards customer, is a reflection of your leadership. Your positive attitude, your commitment, passion and motivation is inspiring. The world needs more people like you and your wonderful team! THANK...
Read moreI heard good things about this place and I wanted to see what the hype was about. Placed my order online 45 minutes ahead of time & indicated I would pick-up my food 15 minutes before closing. I even took the toll road to ensure I got there with enough time to spare in case I got lost (which I did!). Getting to the location was a hassle in itself as the gps confirmed we arrived but there was no indication of a visible sign. Went in circles 2-3 times and decided to park in the garage and walk inside the mall hoping for a miracle.
Upon entering, there was a sign with an arrow that said Shake Shack so I thought it would be right around the corner. Wrong! After walking around clueless and lost I decided to go up the escalator and again no signs in sight that indicated which way to go. There was a sign that led to the food court and I figured I would have luck finding it when going upstairs but again - nothing! I called Shake Shack FIVE times before I could get a hold of someone to help me find the place. Finally after getting someone on the phone she let me know how to get there and I literally arrived 5 minutes after the time I indicated I would be there (9:15).
I ordered 2 burgers, 2 sodas, 1 lemonade, chicken bites, and 2 fries just to try a little bit of everything. My son and I figured we would eat in the car but decided to eat downstairs where they had open tables and chairs. The food looked good at a quick glance, but it’s not until we actually started eating where it all went downhill. $40+ later and a stomach ache we ended up throwing away the majority of our food. The chicken bites had a peculiar taste, the burgers were stuck to the paper wrapper and on top of that the fries weren’t even hot. The only thing I enjoyed was my soda, and the lemonade which was actually delicious. Aside from that, it was a total disappointment and don’t plan on returning.
P.S. I would recommend investing in better quality beverage holders because the flimsy paper like...
