RUDE AND OFFENSIVE.
I'm not sure if staff from Venchi will see this, but people might be surprised that this popular store is only worth 2 stars.
Today, 12/17, we visited the store between 6:00-7:00 pm to shop for chocolates. The store was very busy as usual, and since it wasn't our first time to shop at Venchi, we let the staff know that we could help ourselves when we got in.
At this point, a girl came over to us to make sure we needed any help and introduced to us that we could try each flavor of the chocolates we were interested in once. We were surprised to hear that since we hadn't sampled at any other Venchi before, and reconfirmed to her that we were allowed to do so.
Shortly thereafter, another petite girl suddenly came over and asked my friend if he was sampling the chocolates in his hand or if he was going to buy them!! We were confused, "Isn't sampling allowed?” She immediately retorted that we should inform her before trying the chocolates and said that chocolates cost money.
???? Should we only allow to sample chocolates under spy? This is not the rule we knew from the first girl. Felt very offended!!
We wouldn't be so stupid as to think that this place is all-you-can-eat, even if the chocolates are delicious. We only sampled 3 chocolates in total until we checked out, and we didn't try to be cheap.
We definitely know chocolate costs money. This is not our first time buying Venchi, and we know it goes by weight. You made us feel like we were stealing your chocolates?
We can totally understand the store was very busy and crowded and we already showed that we could help ourselves multiple times. However, the management seems to be messy and not able to understand the situation of their customers.
One star for the delicious chocolates themselves, and another for the first girl who kindly told us we could sample them.
Other than that, this purchase was a very...
Read moreAfter returning from a trip to Italy last month, I was ecstatic to find out that a Venchi had opened up in Tysons Corner last fall. Suffering from gelato withdrawal, I knew I had to stop by. Of course, both the gelato and their chocolates are pricier than in Italy but that’s expected. For the most part, everything was pretty consistent with the ones I tried in Italy. If you want the full gelato experience, I recommend coating your cone or cup and if you get a cone, get the bottom filled with the hazelnut spread (for me, this is what set Venchi apart from all the other amazing gelaterias that I tried in Italy). For any pistachio lovers, this place will make all your pistachio-dreams come true. The pistachio gelato is none like I’ve ever tasted, so creamy & roasty, you can definitely taste the rich pistachio flavor (and in case you didn’t know, it should never be a bright green color). And also they have lots of pistachio chocolates which are unique because in the states, you typically only find chocolate with peanuts, almonds, or hazelnuts. They have many other varieties as well. Although you can find other fine chocolates in the states, Venchi offers some unique flavors that I have yet to see from other chocolatiers. And the best part was the line was short (compared to the ones in Italy which would go out the store and around the corner). Maybe deterred by the prices, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the brand, but I won’t be...
Read moreThe two employees who were working here on May 6 stole my money. At first they refused my cash. The cashier rolled her eyes and said I was trouble for paying cash. I said that’s no problem I can pay with Apple Pay. So that’s what I did. I paid for 3 items, 2 double scoop cones and 1 scoop bowl. I showed her and the other employee my bank app that I was charged. ($25.39)
When I walked in they were not at all warm or kind and said they don’t offer samples when my kids said they wanted to try the raspberry gelato before getting it, until I asked why they sampled for the others prior to us. My kids ended up selecting the raspberry flavor for one of their scoops after trying it. They had them share one sample. It seemed an issue as if they didn’t want to work.
I was robbed today. Although I showed proof I was charged they still didn’t give my kids what I’d paid for. It was a horrible experience. The woman handling the chocolate came to yell at me and my kids and scream bye bye bye over and over. She was very rude and her behavior was inappropriate. Someone needs to investigate this store. I have contacted my bank since my money was stolen by the...
