I always loved coming here. However slowly but surely the service has been declining. We have had three unsatisfactory visits where two were resolved.
1st. I came in with my boyfriend and ordered the classic chicken Parmesan with the change of making it Alfredo instead of marinara. I am a server myself of 1+ years experience and I know mistakes are made. However the waitress should catch these noticeably different changes. The manager fixed the problem and took the item off the bill with an apology.
2nd. I was with my family, 5 of us, and when my dad ordered his baked potato he clearly stated no sour cream twice to our server. When the plate came out it had sour cream and he had to say something to her, to which she replied with a shrug “ohh oh shoot, would you like another one?” My dad who didn’t want to make a fuss just picked it off. Any upstanding restaurant manager and their workers should know that you always fix the problem no questions asked. We did not receive the correct potato or an apology or reduction of the bill.
3rd. I was with another party of 5 and my uncle who is in recent remission of cancer cannot handle a lot of spice or seasonings. I knew this waitress from the first visit I previously stated, and told my group to clarify and be direct with their orders. He stated twice no seasoning on any of his potato or steak and sadly it came loaded with pepper and was overwhelming for him. I didn’t want to make him uncomfortable so I didn’t say anything and he doesn’t send anything back being the gentleman he is. My dad always looks over his receipts,however, being with his brother who flew in from WI he was distracted and didn’t notice the extra charge for our appetizer. I ordered it while waiting for the rest of my party to come and then we decided to use that appetizer to fulfill our free one for the 2 for $22. After we got home we looked over our bill (which was our mistake for not doing it at the restaurant) we saw we were charged for it. A call to the store the same night got us a gift card for the appetizer and no apology.
Most of my visits are pleasant when we get seated with an outstanding chipper server. These servers take their job to the fullest and want to provide you with excellent service which earns them a generous tip. I am sad to say it will be hard choosing Applebee’s from now on over another restaurant in Yakima. Read moreMy husband asked for hot cocoa with milk. He was served it, changed his mind. Asked for lemonade. Then he thought it tasted weird. Then finally settled on water. Our server was very patient the entire time. Our food was served in a very timely manner. We recently ate out at a local Denny's and it took about an hour to get our food, so we were conscious of the time waiting at Applebee's & were pleasantly surprised as to how quick we got served. Thank you Adela A. for your awesome attitude! Give that lady a raise :)
I posted my initial review last night after dining. I had something occur after our dining experience. I thought I had misplaced my phone. I looked at home and couldn't find it. Finally I decided to call Applebee's to see if perhaps I had left my phone there. I called and told them my dilemma, they put me on hold and I waited. Then their phone rang again as apparently my 'on hold' time had expired. Then I got disconnected. Okay, I get it, automated systems. So... I called back and told the lady that I had been cut off and was looking for my phone. She asked me a few questions. She answered "No one turned in a phone" "CLICK." Sheesh!!! How rude!
She could had of least said "Well what is your name & a contact number?" Or "wow! Hope you find it." Hit and miss I suppose. Read moreSadly, this place has fallen far from even the "base" standards of a restaurant. We go here often but I think this was our last visit as the quality of EVERYTHING has dropped exponentially. Our server was wonderful, mind you, and she checked on us regularly, but the food and drinks were quit the opposite. It's like everything is now microwaved half way and the drinks are made by a child. Food was cold when it was brought to the table, the drinks were so watered down that you literately could taste more of the chlorine from the ice and the little bit of Vodka then the drink blend itself. The baby back ribs were pretty awful. The meat was so dry it was like they cooked it in advance, microwaved, then left under a heat lamp for hours. The sauces were wrong on them so we had spicy hot food that was already dry instead of the kind we ordered. The potatoes were somehow cooked but cold on the outside and raw and scalding on the inside. My kids food was also brought out cold as well and my child didn't want it saying it wasn't good. The server was very nice and tried to help as much as she could but sadly you can't fix it when the issue is shortcuts in the business. We had our bill discounted a little after we brought up the complaints, but having so many issues with just one meal and this not being the first time we've have the issues, I think we will be visiting other establishments from here on out.
