Busken Bakery — Restaurant in Union Township

The products are good. But I’ve visited this place three times. The first time, a very friendly woman helped me, but the other two times another woman assisted me with very poor customer service. I walked in to order different pastries, and she asked me how many I wanted so she could get a box ready. I told her I wasn’t sure. She looked up and repeated, “I have boxes of 6, 8, or 12. I need to know how many you’ll take,” saying it as if she were scolding me. Then I pointed to the product and gave her a description, and she told me its name, asking if that was the one I wanted. I replied that I didn’t know the names, since nothing is labeled in the display case—I was just pointing them out. She answered dismissively, saying things like “this one is called such-and-such.” At the register, I made it clear that it wasn’t my intention to bother her, that I only wanted an assortment of pastries, and that I didn’t know their names. She kept her dismissive tone but said, “Alright.” I don’t know the woman’s name, but if she reads this, she’ll know who she is because she had already treated the customers before me the same way, and then it happened to me as well. If you’re having a bad day, try not to take it out on customers who only want to enjoy something from this...

EDIT: I went into buskins around 330 today and the lady working was very rude. She was a younger lady than what i had delt with before. She seemed annoyed that i was there. I asked her a couple of questions because i was looking for a particular product. I asked if thwy had individual wrapped cookies she said no when thwre were clearly some on the donut counter after i glanced around a few seconds. I asked for a dozen of donuts not realizing they were have a sale. She also seemed annoyed about that. Just long story short. She wasn't a very friendly person.

Our Anderson store closed and I would normally have gone to Hyde Park, but decided to give the Eastgate location on Old State Rte 74 a try. This is a nice bake shop with a good selection and excellent service by Connie. My daughter says "she's sweeter than anything in the store and really made my day special!" Our specialty cake order was accurately taken and she made some key suggestions that really made a difference. Connie even called to be sure I was aware it had not yet been picked up, and it was getting near closing time. She took the time to tell me it turned out to be really nice and she thought I'd be happy. It is obvious she takes pride in her job and represents Busken with class.
