Very disappointed last night. I order the same thing every time I visit a Mexican restaurant--one side of grilled onions, two side of grilled shrimp and a side of white cheese poured over the top with a cup of lemonades or tea. At Los Cabos and Don Rigos in Amelia, this is around $13 to $15. At El Rancho Grande in Eastgate, last time I was there prior to Christmas, this was about $16--certainly in line with everyone else. LAST NIGHT WAS A DIFFERENT STORY!! We came in and I ordered the same thing. The waiter tells me he'll put in in as a Fajita since it will be cheaper, So he serves our dinner, brings me all this other stuff I didn't order, then my shrimp and onions, missing the white cheese which he did eventually bring. To be fair, my shrimp was pretty good. But the shocker came when he brought my bill for $26.66!!! WTF?? I point out to the waiter that this seems WAY to high and ask him to please check to see what the bill would be for my original order--one side of onions, two side of grilled shrimp and a side of white cheese. He says he'll ask the manager. He comes back two minutes later and says the manager said it "would be about the same amount for just the sides". Wow. Thanks management for all your effort in this matter.....not. I don't smoke anymore but felt like I should have smoked a cigarette after the screwing i received last night. Feel like my bill was almost double what it should have been and management not too concerned about a...
Read moreI'll start by saying the second star was only saved by the amazing bartender Giovanni. Before that, we received ZERO service. Apparently our server was a tall, skinny, curly blonde haired fellow. He never once came by the table. My husband and I finished our chips and salsa and still nothing. This was Thursday evening. I went to the hostess and Giovanni came by to take our order. Our food was decent (we have been spoiled by the Kenwood location for food and service.) But our server continued to never stop by the table. No refills. Nothing. We did see him going to other tables. We were so fed up that I got boxes for our food and we went to sit at the bar for another drink. Let me tell you my shock when our previois server came by the bar and took a shot of tequila that was sitting on the bar. Extremely unprofessional. Was this employee getting drunk on the clock instead of serving us?? I have worked in the restaurant industry my whole life and very little shocks me but this did. It was his loss that I am an EXTREMELY generous tipper. Giovanni took great care of us at the bar and we would visit again only to sit at the bar and order drinks if...
Read moreIt's been awhile since I last visited El Ranco Grande, just because Covid has kept us at home more. Upon entering the restaurant you immediately notice the beautiful renovations that occurred since my last visit. It's really nice and elevated the whole dining experience. The staff was friendly and attentive. (It was great to see so many other diners...a rare site these days in most any restaurant.) The menu looked great. I noticed some new additions like their fresh Street Tacos. But, I was in the mood for their Chicken Soup. It's a healthy portion of of healthy vegetables, oodles of chicken breast and just the right amount of rice. I asked to eliminate the avocado but substituted instead for fresh cilantro. They happily obliged. The touch of a fresh lime which I spritzed into the soup added a tasty freshness. This soup is a simple pleasure that is such a great find. And, leftovers for at least one other meal. Okay, I'm going on and on about the soup. But, it's that special. So order appetizers, cervaza or margaritas to enhance the meal. Then, leave a great tip for such good food and great service and...
