Boyfriend took me here Sunday Feb 28th to celebrate my 25th birthday. Our reservations were for 7pm but we didn’t get seated until 7:10. It was only 10 minutes and we were told that the kitchen was backed up, but I still feel that there is no excuse for how bad the service was in itself.
After we were seated we waited like 20 minutes to get sparkling water with lemon. We got our lemons 5 minutes before our water & didn’t even get bread until I asked for it. Long waits between every little thing.
We ordered Bacon Wrapped Scallops for an appetizer. The Tomahawk Steak, the Salmon, and 3 side dishes. Our waiter came back & told us that they sold out of the Tomahawk earlier so we ordered the Porterhouse for 2. He was gone for 20 minutes before he came back with the manager to tell us that they sold out of the Porterhouse Steak as well.
At this point it’s like, did they honestly forget that they sold out of these steaks? Or did they think we weren’t going to order some of the more expensive things on the menu? I used to be a server and we were always told to let the customers know if we had anything 86’d BEFORE they ordered. The Manager did a better job of trying to accommodate us more than our own waiter and he only came to our table twice lol.
The manager then goes on to say that he’ll give us 2 different steaks at a discount to make up for the Porterhouse. I couldn’t believe we were at Morton’s Steakhouse going through this. “The only thing that’ll be different is there won’t be a bone”. LOL. Our waiter just stood behind him shrugging his shoulders.
We didn’t even care anymore. The experience was ruined by now and we were hungry so we agreed. Our food took a while longer. Our salmon and steaks weren’t hot when we got them, just warm. They forgot the bleu cheese butter we asked for. (Or whatever it’s called) The mashed potatoes hardened before we finished our meal and the Brussel sprouts were over cooked. When she sat us, the hostess said in a nice way how they were trying to have everyone on a 90 minute limit. We had been there for 90 minutes when we got our food.
Our server comes to tell us that if we want dessert we should get it 20 minutes ahead of time so it’ll be ready by the time we’re done eating. We took his advice and got the Cheesecake. We took our time eating and had our food boxed up. The dessert took so long that I had to call another waiter so he could tell ours to canceled it mind you, we watched our server help 2 different tables leave. Then it finally came out.
Our waiter gave us the check and told us that we weren’t charged for the appetizer or dessert.
The food was really good except for the brussel sprouts. Just didn’t come out hot.
Like I said before, I know the kitchen was backed up, but we didn’t have to be treated like that by our waiter. It was like, he knew how crazy it was in there but was barely apologetic for it. The discounts and free food doesn’t matter to me. It was my birthday celebration and a restaurant that claims to be “upscale” turned it into a shitshow. And instead of giving a sincere apology for it, Morton’s would rather comp things off the tab and show us our merry way out. I felt bad for the tip we gave our server because I work in the tip industry myself but if you want to treat me like I’m less than, I have no problem acting like it. I went to Ruths Chris and got amazing treatment. Left an amazing $200+ tip on a $350 bill too! Will not...
Read moreThe four of us had another absolutely "outstanding" dining experience at this High End steakhouse.
As soon as we entered the restaurant Riley gave us a really warm welcome and we had a really nice conversation with her as she took us to our table.
Our server Missy came over and introduced herself with a nice hearty smile and showcased her sense of humor right from the get-go. We knew it was gonna be one extremely fun evening immediately.
She let us enjoy our cocktails for a while before she went over some new additions on the menu and some of the specials. She highlighted the crab and lobster cocktail which was cooked in a pesto lemon lime sauce and the way that she described that to us, two of us knew we were going to order that immediately for our appetizer. Then she highlighted the Greek salad and went over all of the multitude of ingredients that were in it and the other two dinner guests knew they were going to order that for their appetizer. Missy was on a roll for sure. Both of those appetizers were out of this world. We've ordered crab and lobster cocktails at so many high-end restaurants before but none of them have tasted as good as this one. The chef deserves a lot of praise for the creativity in making this delicious/ very unique appetizer.
Two of us ordered the filet mignon for our entrées and the other two dinner guests ordered the pork chop and the four of us were just raving over how perfectly everything was cooked and how tasty everything was. We came prepared to order the lava cake for our dessert which we knew was truly outstanding and we were certainly not disappointed with that. We have to mention that Missy's humor was "off the charts" all evening long and that she kept the four of us entertained, in fact, we kept teasing her and telling her that we're having dinner and a show.
When we think of Mortons we think of High End Service which Missy most certainly demonstrated (I would call her service a five star service) and food that is absolutely "top notch". We left the restaurant praising Missy's service and the absolutely "outstanding" dining experience the four of us had. Thank you, thank you,...
Read moreI more than rarely leave reviews but this situation I feel has to be addressed. It was my first time eating here with my wife. We ordered the jumbo lump crab cake and Caesar salad for an appetizer. For our main meal we ordered the 12oz filet, the wagyu filet, gratin potatoes, asparagus, and the truffle fries totaling around $264 including tip. Which was no problem at all as we knew what we were in for. HOWEVER, after the fact we paid online using the barcode(scan to pay) option on the check/bill and received a confirmation that the amount was PAID in FULL we proceeded to exit the restaurant but before we could make it past the kitchen area the server who is named ally stopped us in front of many people while they were trying to enjoy their OWN meal and accused me of not paying the bill a loud for others to hear instead of simply ASKING what method was used to pay our bill in a nicer way. I let her know the bill was paid online twice and showed the confirmation to her, to which she responded “yeah but there’s nothing here.” Again a loud while opening the check book the bill was in to which I then reminded her it was paid online via the scan to pay so that would explain why the check book was empty. She asked another employee to verify in the system (while she disappeared) that the bill was not owed and we were asked to wait by a white table off to the side only for him to come back and tell us that there in fact was NO balance due which was what we already tried to explain to the server. There was no apology given by the server. After speaking with the manager he did offer an apology on the servers behalf and said he understood where we felt the embarrassment and the disrespect come from. Unfortunately this would be our first and last time eating at this location in...
