I've been to Kumo a handful of times and never wrote a review yet because I wasn't sure how I felt about my experiences overall. However, dinner tonight really solidified my thoughts. I had reserved a table for a party of 8 a week in advance. I called a few days later to see if I could add another table of 4 to the group, since 8 was the max for a table. The woman taking my call was very rude off the bat and said at first she could not accommodate another table of 4 under my name even though I knew there were tables available. She then complied a bit and said she could reserve another table of 4 under my name. I thanked her and asked if there was any way that table could be close to the table of 8. She said she couldn't guarantee that and I said, "Okay, thank you. That's fine." She then very unnecessarily quipped, "I hope there's not an argument about it tonight." WHAT ON EARTH? I never even implied an argument or was argumentative in my tone. I had actually told her it was fine if the table of 4 wasn't close to the table of 8.
When everyone all arrived and got seated, I realized that the table of 4 was the next table over from the table of 8. However, the table of 4 was still separate and a good 10-12 feet away. For the table of 4, two of my friends showed up, so I asked if they could bring their seats over or push the table to be adjacent to the table of 8. The same woman was rude and argumentative and said that could not be done whatsoever. It was so sad that my two friends had to be ostracized from everyone else, and they virtually ate by themselves since they weren't within earshot of our table. Kumo won't be getting my business again.
FYI- Kumo has been really skimping out on some of their orders. The pictures are both of the tuna avocado salad app- one noticeably much more generous in portion and ingredients than the other (and these were taken only one...
Read moreResponse Update: I appreciate your response and will do so should we visit the establishment again. To note, we did not receive a bounce back email, only an email from Google asking us about our experience. The woman at the reservation desk specifically stated "Sorry, we do not do Google reservations" in front of a waiting area full of patrons after I stated we have confirmation. Instead we were told there wasn't anything available until 8pm. It is understandable in this industry but a matter of diligence to try and understand the miscommunication at the time could've been more helpful instead of the feeling of being brushed off.
We had one full experience here at Kumo and it was good. The first time there, I called and spoke to a woman who put us down for an evening reservation. When we arrived, we did not have a reservation but she was able to seat our party of 4 and dinner was very good. Atmosphere & Staff were very nice also. We decided to try this again and this time decided to use the link on Google to reserve a table for dinner on a Saturday evening. We arrived, they were very busy and once again, same woman stated there were no reservations for us although we had confirmation emails. We were told that they do NOT do Google reservations. Anyone in the area knows that this is a huge damper on a Saturday evening. You can't get in anywhere else locally without one. The place is nice but if you plan on visiting, surely make a reservation however not sure how to advise. We love a BYOB so that there is a plus... if you can...
Read moreI honestly wish I could give this place a decent review because I was so excited to try it out. Being new to the area, my husband and I are on the hunt for good restaurants. We walked into the restaurant not knowing it was by reservation only. There were no signs on the door or anything on the website indicating that reservations were required (just that the website indicated they offer reservations). When we walked in (on a random Tuesday), we noticed a few people sitting down eating but by no means a packed house. The host asked if we had a reservation, we said no and a few seconds later he decided to give us a table but not before rudely stating “make a reservation next time”. No “please”, no explanations…just pure annoyance that we had the audacity to show up to an empty restaurant on a Tuesday without a reservation. My husband and I without hesitation decided to walk out of the restaurant. Nothing worse then feeling unwanted somewhere and we surely weren’t going to give our money to an establishment that makes us feel like an inconvenience. We took our money to another restaurant in the same area and ended up not only liking the food, but also liking the warm and...
