It’s a difficult review to write because I see all the good reviews above, which makes me believe that it must have been a bad day for the restaurant. Regardless, I will share honest opinion in the spirit of continuous improvement. First off, the restaurant was extremely hot inside. I understand that it was hot out and the day was slow, but as a customer I am not sure if I want to pay the price; which is relatively high in the area. Second, the service was very subpar. Again, I recognize that it was a slow day but who would want to spend at a place where employee is not interested in talking and disappeared for the most part. The service was EXTREMELY slow just because the restaurant was not prepared to serve due to slow day; we got food over an hour. We felt bad for AN employee serving (and perhaps making) at the same time.
Overall, the food taste is 4 star but I suggest management to focus on service and preparedness. The ambience and food is really good and there is a lot of potential at this...
Read moreDisgusting: fried insect in noodles, zero accountability
I ordered noodles directly from South Avenue Indian Cuisine and found a fried fly cooked into my food (photos attached). When I contacted them, instead of taking responsibility, they told me it was my fault and accused me of putting it there myself. Absolutely outrageous.
They even tried to brush it off by saying they gave me “free food,” as if that excuses serving contaminated, unsafe meals. A fried fly in my noodles is not a small mistake — it’s a serious health hazard. Their denial and refusal to take accountability is even worse than the insect itself.
This restaurant proudly displays a health department certificate claiming cleanliness, but my experience proves otherwise.

Read moreSouth avenue has the BEST Indian food I’ve ever had. I’m a pasty white guy who loves all kinds of foods. I’ve been all over the area (from west Norriton) and I can’t overemphasize just how delicious this food is. I’ve tried most of the currys and some of the apps. The butter chicken is better than any butter chicken you’ve ever had. The gongura curry had me wanting to get plane tickets to India.
I’m so glad this place opened near me as it’s become an instant staple. I’ve gotten takeout and dined in. Both were excellent, but the dine in experience was better.
I promise you this place will be on all local must try lists. Get in before everyone...
