Chili's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Valparaiso

This place is not what it used to be. I used to go to this location and love it. But it’s the total opposite now. First i walk in and the whole restaurant is FREEZING. They have horrible concrete, jail floors that make the place even colder and look more unwelcoming. I go straight to the bathroom. It was disgusting. Toilet paper all over the floor. The toilets haven’t been cleaned in I don’t know how long. I had to hover. I should have walked out after that but I gave them a chance. I was seated after a 5 minute wait, no biggie. They weren’t very busy at all but maybe they just finished their rush. I didn’t mind the wait at all. The place was more empty than packed tho. Almost every table was dirty. Still had dishes sitting on each table. Half eaten food. Gross but whatever. Not a single server was seen in sight. Like the entire time I was there I seen like 1 or 2 servers, BARELY. When I was finally seated, the server didn’t take care of us for about 5-7 minutes. Totally understand. She may have been busy with side work or whatever. She was sweet tho. Got our drinks and took our order. Didn’t get any straws tho and I’m not the type to drink off a dirty cup but wasn’t a big deal. Ordered soup and chips and salsa. Mind you, I was STARVING all day and had been looking forward to using my chillis gift card I got for Christmas lol. I was served my soup and chips and salsa. (Also I was freezing sitting there the whole time. My hands and nose were sooo cold) The soup LOOKED good, i took a bite and it was ice cold. I mean COLD. Not even a bit of warm. The salsa was watery, you had to kind of stir it up for it to look presentable. At that point, I was disgusted. I wanted to leave immediately. It made me anxious, made me lose my appetite and I wanted to leave right then and there. I asked one of the girls to please bring me their manager (I felt like such a d!ck and a karen but I was not gonna waste my only gift card on that, absolutely not.) He was a super nice guy, SUPER nice! I felt so weird and bad even telling him I was having a horrible time and experience. I told him I just want to leave but I didn’t want to make it seem like a dine and dash. I told him to please tell the kitchen to just stop my entree. The cold soup really made me lose my appetite. I had absolutely no hope for the meal being any good. The whole experience was so awful. I was disgusted. Thank you to the manager for taking everything off the bill and apologizing and validating my feelings. He was a nice guy. I left a $5 bill on the table for my server. Even tho she didn’t do much, she still had to greet us and get our drinks and soup and things. And she had other tables. Even tho we left, it still took her some time to bring our stuff and clean the table. And I felt bad just leaving and making her waste her time. But, honestly as someone who works as a server myself, they need a lot of work at this location. A lot. It’s gross, it’s cold, food was horrible. I went across the street to chick fil a to get dinner and head home. I didn’t even eat that food until hours later because I had completely lost my appetite. We recently visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived, there were two other customers waiting to be seated and no staff at the check in area. After a few minutes, a staff came up and said she had to clean some tables first. As we looked around, we saw most of the tables were vacant but still had dishes and etc. on them. The staff cleaned off the tables and we were seated. Our table still had dried food and crumbs on it along with those items on our chairs. The floor below our table had food, napkins, a spoon and other items. So it say it was clean is being generous. We waited over ten minutes for our server to arrive. She did not greet us just asked what we wanted to drink. She smelled of cigarette smoke and never smiled during our whole visit. She brought our drinks to the table and took our order for our food. That is the last time we saw her. The kitchen staff brought out our food and we asked them for refills. They stated they would tell our server. She never returned to the table to bring refills, to check how our food was and to see if we wanted anything else. We finally were able to get refills after we asked another server for them. When we were done, we waited at least another ten minutes for our check. The server did not bring it over. We finally decided to stand up. She brought the check over immediately then. We paid our check and left. The next day I contacted the restaurant to talk to the manager and had to leave a message. He never returned my call.
